Another embellishment that the current fascists have added to this new form of slavery has to do with the propagandized concept of individual liberty and freedom. By continually using the controlled media to promote fear and the erroneous concept of our democracy as a constant bulwark against the forces out to destroy our freedoms and take away our liberties, we actually find that these very freedoms and liberties have been politically and thus legally reduced. Simply take note of how few of our Bill Of Rights are still being enforced!
As I mentioned earlier, one of the disadvantages of the old forms of slavery had to do with the expenses involved in labor maintenance. This new slavery has addressed that issue by allowing the slaves to maintain themselves, although at a bare subsistence level. True that this process runs the risk of some of the slaves excelling in their economic liberation, but the excessive prospects of this can be controlled by restricting their access to anything more than a nominal, expensive and substandard level of education.
This marginalization of education is another concept that has been carried forward and modernized from the pre-Civil War period. In its current configuration, it has the advantage of allowing just enough education to flourish and meet the needs of the slave owners while, due to the increasing expenses involved, restricting the amount of free time that the majority could use to educate themselves enough to understand and seek liberating and/or collaborative solutions to their dire predicament.
What is evolving is a tightly controlled and closed environment, wherein the slaves actually become working, excessively taxed (taxes which are then used to subsidize their own slavery), minimally self-supporting, self-replicating Consumer Units who feed the massively expanding consumption engine of a corporatized economy. Any minor degree of deviation from what is needed to keep the system in balance -- according to the dictates of the slave owners -- is immediately and often ruthlessly eradicated -- often through the use of a militarized police force that is backed by a corrupt legal syndicate which feeds into the largest prison system in the world.
When over expansion of population exceeds the needs of the slave owners, patriotically induced wars are utilized. Likewise, in the case of over-production of goods to feed the constantly expanding requirements of the corporations, wars -- which have the primary function of destruction of manufactured materials and personnel -- are also initialized as dual purpose release valves.

I hate to tell you this, Slave, but the prospects of escape from this new form of slavery are not very promising. The first step, like any good 12 Step Program, is to overcome the denial. Before you can free yourself, you have to admit that you are a slave. Once that breakthrough has occurred, you must survey your options for freedom.
One consideration is to simply run away. However, the setbacks to that option can be vast and far-reaching. Leaving behind the chains that bind one to this new form of slavery can be difficult. There are family ties, work or professional connections, financial structures to be dismantled or reconfigured, tangible property like homes to be abandoned, the gnawing concept of abandoning your country and fellow countrymen, etc. Additionally, there is the dilemma of WHERE to go as well as being readily accepted and resurrected as a newly freed human being.
