The United States Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the National Disability Rights Network, along with other leaders and advocates from across the disability community, signed a memorandum of agreement to solidifiy a partnership in working together to assure planning for and meeting the needs of people with disabilities before, during, and after disasters strike. Day747/March12th/Saturday: In his Weekly Address, the President paid homage to former First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt, commended the great strides that had been made to create a more equal American society, and reaffirmed his resolve to pass the Paycheck Fairness Act. Transcript Video

Day748/March13th/Sunday: The President's op-ed appeared in the Arizona Daily Star, urging gun laws that filter the wrong people from getting their hands on a gun under the National Instant Criminal Background Check System must be better administered; that states that provide the best data should be rewarded; and that a faster and nimbler system would provide an instant, accurate, comprehensive and consistent system for background checks to sellers who want to do the right thing, and make sure that criminals can't escape it. The President held a bilateral meeting with Prime Minister Lars Lokke Rasmussen of Denmark in the Oval Office of the White House; then both gave statements to the press from the Oval Office. Video

The President, United States Secretary of Defense Robert Gates , and Commander of the U.S. Central Command General David Petraeus met to discuss ongoing efforts in Afghanistan, including the effectiveness of the military surge, the growth of the Afghan National Security Forces, and Afghanistan President Hamid Karzai's expected March 21, 2011 announcement on beginning transition to Afghan security lead. They also discussed the plan to begin the reduction of U.S. forces in July 2011 and the path to completing the transition to full Afghan responsibility for security by the end of 2014. Source
