The President attended an evening Democratic National Committee (DNC) event at the St. Regis Hotel in Washington, D.C.

The United States Justice Department introduced FOIA.gov, a site dedicated to the Freedom of Information Act that made it easier to find information about the FOIA; with clear explanations and short videos that explored all the major aspects of the FOIA, including how you can make a request and what happens when you do. Also gathered was information on where to send a FOIA request into one location. A click on the name of a department and reveals where to send your request and the names of the officials responsible for making sure your request is completed. Source

 

Day750/March15th/Tuesday: The President conducted local interviews with KOAT Albuquerque, KDKA Pittsburgh and WVEC Hampton Roads from the Map Room of the White House on the importance of education reform and the need to fix No Child Left Behind. Source

The President met with student finalists of the Intel Science Talent Search 2011 competition in the East Room of the White House. Source

The President and Vice President Joe Biden met with United States Secretary of Defense Robert Gates in the Oval Office of the White House. Source

The President and his national security team reviewed the situation in Libya and options to increase pressure on Muammar Gaddafi. In particular, the conversation focused on efforts at the United Nations (UN) and potential UN Security Council actions, as well as ongoing consultations with Arab and European partners. The President instructed his team to continue to fully engage in the discussions at the United Nations, NATO and with partners and organizations in the region. Source

The President and Vice President Joe Biden had an evening meeting with the Combatant Commanders. Source

The President and First Lady Michelle Obama hosted a dinner for the Combatant Commanders and spouses in the Blue Room of the White House. Source

The United States Drug Enforcement Administration (USDA) seized Georgia's supply of sodium thiopental, a drug used in executions, because of concerns about how it was imported. Source

 

Day751/March16th/Wednesday: T he President met with United States Agency for International Development Administrator Rajiv Shah in the Oval Office of the White House to discuss USAID humanitarian assistance efforts including those in the Middle East, Africa, Haiti, Afghanistan and Pakistan and the disaster assistance being provided to the Japanese government as they respond to the recent major earthquake and tsunami. The President accepted an award from a coalition of good government groups and transparency advocates in recognition of " his deep commitment to an open and transparent government". Source
