What If the RNC Invited In the Dems To, With Permission, Do A Watergate Exploration

The Watergate breakin was an attempt, approved at the highest levels, by the Republican party to find out what the Democrats were up to.

What if the Democrats had a shot at looking over a massive range of emails by the Republicans... and it was legal, forced upon the Republicans due to their own malfeasance?

That could come to pass. The RNC allowed many Whitehouse federal employees to use RNC email so as to avoid the normally recorded means of communication- the federally required means.

That could translate into an opportunity for an incredible fishing expedition by house and senate investigators. Since they don't know which emails have relevance or meaning, and since the emails were illegal, it seems that the Dems in congress may be within their rights demanding-- subpoenaing large volumes of RNC email, maybe even the whole hard drives and back-ups.

To be sure they get it all, they'll probably have to subpoena clerical and administrative personell to determine what was deleted or erased and when. My guess is that the RNC is staying up late, burning the midnight oil, deleting and purging as fast as they can, before the subpoenas arrive. And I will be amazed and disappointed if Henry Waxman, John Conyers and Patrick Leahy don't have subpoenas out very soon.

It will be interesting to see how the Bush Whitehouse attempts to block access to "priveleged" communications that have been used illegally. For all we know, any attempt to block access to them could be read as virtual confessions of guilt. Of course we'll see a very different framing from those on the right.

Jason Leopold, at, writes,
According to a report published last week in PC World, White House spokesman David Almacy said setting up outside email accounts through the RNC for certain administration staffers was cleared by White House attorneys.

The RNC email accounts "allow legitimate political activities to be conducted by appropriate staff members without using White House accounts, which would be illegal under the Hatch Act. 'It was specifically set up that way so that people weren't using their official accounts for political activities,' he said. Only certain White House staff members have such outside accounts, including those who regularly communicate with outside political groups," Almacy told PC world.

Let's see. Who would that whitehouse legal counsel be? Gonzales or Meiers? Take your pick.

Spring is busting out all over. The flowers will be in full bloom soon-- busted , corrupt right winger flowers, that is.
