I don't usually plug anyone when I write and I don't believe I have ever asked anyone for a donation to anything. I also never say never. There is one organization that I could absolutely not do without when it comes to writing about the subject that I personally believe is THE root cause of this nation's problems; Campaign Financing. For those people that are reading this, and are not familiar with my views on this subject, just let me say that the cost of running for federal office is so prohibitive these days, that only the rich or well connected can win a national election. That is why we have had a congress full of aristocrats and people that have been "bought" by large multinational corporations. What we used to call the "Military-Industrial complex".

There is a non-profit, self-supporting organization that has taken the guesswork out of who gets, who gives, and who owes who in our government today. That organization is the Center for Responsive Politics. They are not left or right, republican or democrat, liberal or conservative. They just tell it like it is. You can see them at "opensecrets.org".

When I write about politicos that take corporate money, I am not making this up. Our system is corrupted and just about broken. The only time that the politicians need the people, is when we go to the polls and pick our choices for office. It's big money that brings these candidates to the ballot box. Without corporate support, most politicians wouldn't get past state-level political offices. If you don't believe that, go to opensecrets.org and make your own informed judgment. I think you will be amazed at the wealth of information that they have on their website.

That information doesn't come for free. Like I said, they are self-supporting through contributions through people like you. I believe that they are the best organization around for information on money in politics. Anyone that writes about, or is interested in returning our government to the people, just has to be grateful to these folks and a contribution to them is a contribution for better government. These are the people in the trenches, getting information under the Freedom of Information Act that I imagine a lot of politicians really don't want to become public knowledge. They deserve support from us. So if you give to just one organization this year besides OpEdNews.com, this is the one that I would put my money on. I hope you could consider doing that too.
