Two Critically Important Reasons to Defeat Romney and Prevent a National Catastrophe

As the presidential election process reaches its climax and emotions rise to new heights, those in the Democratic/Liberal/Progressive ranks that are disillusioned with President Obama's performance, and are urging their fellow Americans to vote for a third party candidate or not vote at all, need to think very deeply about the consequences that will quite likely follow in the wake of their advice.

First of all the individuals who are lobbying for the American electorate to pay back Mr. Obama for what they feel are his failures to deliver on his main promise of bringing significant change to America cannot be faulted for thinking that way. They have every right to be disillusioned with his performance because he has not been as strong as he should have been, he has not fought hard enough on important issues and, by doing so, he has alienated many of his staunchest supporters.

However, while their anger and disillusionment and their desire for payback may be somewhat understandable, their recommendations would, in fact, serve to greatly exacerbate this nation's most critical problems. Their advice could easily pave the way for Romney/Ryan to slide into the presidency and then be, once again, controlled by the neocons that are waiting in the wings. That would be like going from the frying pan into the fire; a situation that you don't like to one that is unbearable. Didn't we learn any lessons from eight years of pain and misery under G.W. Bush?

They can't seem to understand and accept the fact that the root cause of most of this nation's problems is the stranglehold that Corporate America has on this government and the political process; and that unless that stranglehold is completely removed by either a Supreme Court ruling or a Constitutional amendment, no current or future president, Democrat, Republican or third party member will ever be able to cope with its massive, controlling power.

There is no use to go into the many instances where this president has not followed through on his promises to the American people for we all know what they are. Though many of these failures can be ascribed to his own failings as a leader, many others were due to the cleverly planned Republican tactics of total obstruction that were designed to bring him down; and their plan worked beautifully. In any event, what happened is a part of the past and its time to move on to discuss specific tactics and strategies that will, if done effectively, break Corporatism's stranglehold, reform and cleanse our political process, and strengthen our democracy.

There are two critical issues that, by themselves alone, are reasons why a Republican, in this case Mitt Romney, cannot and must not be allowed to occupy the Oval Office; if the American people, fully understanding the agenda of this party that includes an increasing number of unapologetic sociopaths and misogynists, allow that to happen, it will have very disastrous and, possibly, irreversible effects on this country and its society for many decades.

Let's begin with the U.S. Supreme Court and how, in the next several years, it will play a major role in the direction of this country for some time to come. By now it should be clear to most Americans that Corporate America has established control over this government, this Supreme Court, and the political system, and is in the process of tearing down the foundations of our democracy. The U.S. Supreme Court, in the now infamous Citizens United case, vastly increased the power of Corporatism and paved the way for it to largely dominate our election process.
