Who says you can't judge a book by its cover, or a magazine by such? The Republicans seem to claim you can, and criticize Newsweek for its recent cover featuring an unaltered facial photo of Michelle Bachmann that "makes her LOOK crazy." Hmmm...an interesting perspective. One wonders if a Newsweek cover of Mother Theresa would have depicted a manic personality within, or the truth.
Some will argue most stubbornly that the camera never lies. "Crazy" is...well...crazy, perhaps even dangerous, as we discovered from Duh-bya, and if you ever looked very closely at his photos -- especially around the eyes -- did you see something suggestive perhaps?
Lawrence Olivier said of secret to cinema acting: "It's all in the eyes." It could very likely be the same for mag covers. The larger problem here is that Michelle is no actress -- the crazy aspect is not a put-on.
Michelle Bachmann has a penchant for talking a lot about "America." Such people can be in fact quite dangerous -- if not a bit whacky -- as we've learned across the past 30 years, and from the "Fatherland" mantra in another country in the 1930's and early 40's.
It's time for leadership and the sheeple to come out from hiding under the flag and start talking about "People," the kind of citizens that rely upon public schools for their education, real jobs for their subsistence, honest mortgages, solid roads and safe bridges, affordable medical care and a decent survival in their elder years. And a government -- yes, one IS necessary -- that pursues PEACE rather than to kill our children and a million others in such as the War of Lies for the Oil Guys.
Hopefully the electorate will sharpen up its insights into these perspectives before November, 2012 -- starting with the rejection of those who visibly project hostility and perhaps even "crazy."
