Okay Already, I'm Going to Vote

I'm an old political hand, I started canvassing when I was 7 years old when my Dad would take me around our neighborhood, door to door for Kennedy. We were a union family. We were CHICAGO Democrats. But, I tossed in the towel in 2009, for good and all. I expected so much more from a Chicago Machine Democratic in the White House. Deals, and money under a table, just like in Chicago. But things got done in Chicago. And they were smart enough to keep it quiet. Not on the front page of the Wall Street Journal bragging about it.

I expected, anticipated, relished, some damn backroom deal making in Washington. But nobody can do a deal with an insane person, let alone a whole political party of them.

I took my electoral politics ball and went home for good in 2010.

Ya'll who know me, know what I'm doing with all that energy, all that money, all those hard learned organizing skills. And if you don't know me well enough, then ask. I'm eager and will be very happy to tell you about it.

No, it's not Jesus or Amway .

Resisting the emotional suck of the vacuum that has become our political entertainment is very hard. Especially any November with an election day in it. It's easy to forget it's just a god damned SHOW.

Then I go outside and try to think of what else I can do to make our homestead more sustainable. And how I can get as many people as possible thinking about doing it too. Especially folks living within 30 miles of my place.

No matter who 'wins' on November 6th, we'll all still be sitting in the same dried out, moldy, holey, sad excuse for a canoe, beached on a sand bar, trying to paddle with a garden rake, up this s**t creek we've found ourselves in.

We can't blame our "elected" representatives too much, they are indeed doing their jobs. They are doing exactly what the people who are paying them want them to do. Period, end of story.

Everything else is just chatter to divide our population. They have got to keep us from ever figuring it out . And derail us from ever getting together to do something about it.

I've been convinced to vote, when it was my intention to not vote at all.

I'll be in line with a briefcase full of my voter identification at the Alachua County Elections Office on November 6th to vote NO on every single Florida Constitutional Amendment. I don't give a rat's ass about the rest.

Except, whilst I'm there.... I'll fill in the oval for Jill Stein. I don't care if I'm in a swing state or not, I believe the presidential selection has already been made.

And for once in the last 3 Presidential elections, I'm not voting for the lesser evil. I'm voting for the candidate who would, if ever there was a chance in hell, work in my best interest for a country I'd really like to live in. You'd like to live there too. Unfortunately that's not going to happen.

Whew. That's it. Done & Done. See you on the other side of November 6.
