How I admire the phrase "fifty-first state":

What kind of idiot would say no to that?
It's an ask to a wing-ding, a bright welcome mat!
Don's minded his PR guys this time around,
How is it enthusiasm doesn't abound?

He didn't say "conquer," not "invade" or "seize,"
He clear' holds no truck with "take over" or "squeeze,"
He merely invites to the American dream:
Recalling Canadians who daily scream,
"Why, I've made it big here, the market is vast.
If I'd stayed in BC, my star would have passed!"

Maybe some Canadians sense a raw deal,
Is Don really concerned for their common weal?
And maybe what's common will be broken in four:
East Canada, West Canada, one or two more,
'Cause it's much easier to divide and conq'
Than have all Canada bloc-vote like a bronc'.

Say what you like, our Don's returned with plans lain,
Four years in the wilderness not spent in vain,
And already you can see his strat' at work:
They boo our anthem and oft' our chain jerk
In companies, friendships, any cooperation,
For nothing flourishes like bad-neighboration.

To persuade, Don prefers the economic,
Far less messy than anything atomic,
But here Canucks give back as good as they get:
In oil, in feeds, in many-pronged eco-threat,
So ultimately Don must send in Marines,
That sand-and-shovel brigade of hare-brained schemes.
