Why Israel won't sign any ceasefire that's fair

As the Palestinian death toll resulting from Israel's Operation Protective Edge nears 1,000, and demands for a ceasefire grow ever more desperate, Larry Derfner considers what is most important to Israel in this situation. Surprise, surprise, it isn't international law, but rather "winning" the war by whatever means. "Winning" here means no concessions to Hamas, no freedom for Palestine and no justice for the victims already claimed by this war - and Israel's unwavering pursuit of this goal will lead to more pain for Palestinian civilians.
