A Simple Measure to Honor the Public Right to See and Authenticate the Count in Tuesday's Massachusetts Senate Race Regardless of who wins, the opposing party will be flinging accusations of machine failures, uncounted votes, and fraud. There is only one race on this ballot. It would be easy to divide the ballots in each precinct into three separate piles and simply count the number of votes received by each candidate. This is not going to happen, however. The second question one has to ask is "Why not?"

Compare Florida Elections To USDA Beef Making sure that no problems will be found -- even if problems exist -- is one way to prevent embarrassment.Or is it?Just imagine what will happen if FL has a close Presidential election in November -- a likely scenario -- and incorrect election results are found AFTER certification of the election, when it is too late to correct those results. Now that would be embarrasing. It would also be another Florida election travesty.

GAO Report on Sarasota Lost Votes "Fatally Flawed," According to Researchers "Fatally flawed, incomplete, and factually incorrect" was how FL Fair Elections Center(FFEC) characterized a new U.S. Government Accountability Office's report on the uncounted votes in Sarasota's 2006 Congressional race."Our year-long investigation into the CD-13 race contradicts the GAO's findings. The GAO ignored serious, documented voting system failures that indisputably contributed to the high undervotes in the CD-13 race."

Florida's Vanishing Votes Over 100,000 votes went uncounted in FL's Nov.06 election--all on the ES&S iVotronic paperless touchscreen voting machines--as described in a recently released report by FL Fair Elections Center. The report concludes that it was the failure of the iVotronic machines that resulted in thousands of uncounted votes in the closely-contested 11/06 Congressional District 13 race in Sarasota County, subject of two lawsuits and ongoing

Florida ABC news station slams ES&S iVotronics Press Release that we issued today criticizing the state for allowing the same flawed iVotronic software to be used in the Presidential Preference Primary that was used in 11/06.Even though corrective software was certified in 8/07,it was never required by the state and has not been installed by the 10 counties using iVotronic--which will record the votes of up to 3,000,000 voters in the Presidential Presidential Primary.

Kudos to the makers of "Hacking Democracy" "Hacking Democracy" was a tremendous triumph by Directors Russ Michaels and Simon Ardizzone, the British filmmakers who created a disturbing and revelatory film about Diebold and the hackability of its voting systems. Working with almost no funding, their first feature-length documentary went on to be nominated for the Emmy award for Outstanding Investigative Journalism -- an amazing accomplishment in itself!
