The False Narrative of "Voter Fraud" A false election narrative of "voter fraud" is currently under construction in various swing states and being built by the Republican party and their media organ, Fox News.

Readjustments in Pipelineistan Georgia has long been viewed as an alternative -- indeed, the only alternative -- to trans-Russian transport of Central Asian oil and gas to western markets. Those days are over.

Circus Maximus: the clown car of American politics if media moguls could get presidential candidates to square off in a cage fight, well, that would be next on the tour of the candidates. Who needs all this talk?

The dinsinformation pipeline and the Iraq Oil Law the subject of this post: more vague disinformation about the Iraq Oil Law appearing in New York Times and put there by that venerable apparatchik Michael Gordon, a once amiable co-conspirator of the detestable Judith Miller on the stream of NY Times WMD disinformation.

Another Redirection The rolling pin of White House scandal continues to splay out an ever widening pastry of malfeasance, fraud, jobbery and inquity.

Pipelines and Imperial Missions Just as the invasion of Iraq was never about weapons of mass destruction, so too is White House agitation against Iran not really about nuclear power or even nuclear weapons. It may look like that, of course, because great pains are taken to make it look that way. This is entirely intended, just as dire warnings of "mushroom clouds" were intended to spark support for the invasion of Iraq.

Media Myth Making: "Free and Fair" elections At the end of this year, the mainstream media narrative regarding exit polls has been all but sealed: they are not the reliable gauges they once were. In fact, mainstream efforts have centered around discrediting exit polls when their results indicated that something untoward might have taken place in a given election, especially in an election in which the US government and the corporate establishment have vested interests

The Old American Century: Twenty Years of Realist Foreign Policy With the release of the Iraq Study Group report, which has almost everyone expressing various degrees of chagrin, the "realists" have moved back onto the stage of American foreign policy. But who are these people and why are they called realists? What is so real about what they advocate, both for the current debacle in Iraq and the larger venture of American-led globalism?

Seesaw season With the November elections looking to be a serious threat to Republican majorities in the House and Senate and Iraq polling as the number one disaster the Bush administration and a Republican Congress had delivered upon the American people, there has been an amazing see-saw of stories, counter stories and, when that wasn't working out, refraction and distraction moved onto the scene.

The Winds of November People ask whether we can endure two more years of Bush, as though, once he's gone, things will suddenly get all better. It is a silly view of our current political climate that doesn't understand that Republicans do not intend to have control wrested from them.

Lamonterrorism Lamont's primary win is really a win for Lieberman, Republicans, the White House and, of course, terrorists. Who knew? Don't worry, the corporate media and the White House will make sure that you do.

Iraq is not enough The failed conditions of Iraq apparently matter not to advocates of Middle East regime change. Failure there simply means, this time we'll do it right.

The Irrational Voice Regarding Iran, the official position of the White House has been to advocate diplomacy in the nuclear dispute while not actually engaging in direct talks with Tehran and leaving the "negotiations" to proxies. While ridiculous, this position further evinces that the White House really isn't interested in actual diplomacy at all.

The New New Threat While the motivation for the release of the 9/11 video is patently obvious, the immigration discussion now enthralling an easily distracted media and its attendant chattering class is something that has been on the back burning for sometime -- on slow burn -- just waiting for the proper time for Bush to finally enter the fray and really stir things up.

The McCain Amendment: Expected Exception It now appears that the possibility of McCain's amendment doing "very little" was overstating the case. The Bush administration is now arguing against the ban and doing so with another contemporaneous amendment that McCain himself happily voted into law.
