The recent elections have given us an amazing opportunity to
make 2007 a year of serious change and transform our pay-to-play
political system.
But it won't happen without you.

Thanks to American voters, 20 incumbent members of Congress --
including 7 directly touched by scandal -- are now out of a job,
proof that corrupt politicians who do political favors for
big-money special interests and lobbyists do so at their own
peril.
And thanks to your efforts over the past months to urge
candidates to sign the "Voters First Pledge," we know that at
least 108 members of the new Congress support full public
financing of elections.
There's even more promising news on the Clean Elections front.
In the last election, more than 200 candidates for state offices
won their elections using public financing -- providing powerful
evidence that Clean Elections works.
These are just some of the reasons that fill me with hope in
looking forward to 2007. But in order to turn that hope into
reality, we need your help.
Please help us reach our $20,000 goal by December 31!

All of us here in the Public Campaign family -- our staff,
volunteers, activists, and partners around the country -- are
truly grateful for all you have done to change our pay-to-play
political system.
We're excited to be working with you as we set out to make 2007
a year of change.
Sincerely,
Nick Nyhart

P.S. I know this is a time of year when many good causes are
asking for your help. I believe much of our failure to provide
universal health care, protect our environment, and ensure
economic and educational opportunity for all is a direct result
of our pay-to-play political system. Public financing is not
just about good government -- it is about restoring the capacity
of our government to serve the needs of its people.
