Just a thought. Did you ever, ever imagine that the mainstream media could dedicate so much airtime to tiger-sh*t?

I mean, rhino horns are sold as ground up powder to be used for aphrodisiac. But Tiger sh*t? What is it doing for the corpsetream media?

Is it a useful distraction from the royal screwing the congress is doing to the American people-- the dilution of the finance reform legislation, the total creation of a gift to insurers as the congress betrays the Dems who voted them in... Feh!!

So much to be disgusted with. Maybe that's why the cameras are on the tiger's sh*t. But it's not good. It's a terrible waste of our limited airwave resources and there ought to be something we could do about it-- some way to, as Alan Grayson suggested to Dick Cheney-- tell the worthless media to STFU.

I have my TV on and there is a break in the incessant coverage of Tiger-sh*t. They switch to the Amanda Knox murder conviction in Italy. This time it's a different kind of worthless media coverage. Shame on the directors and producers who cover this tripe.

America is going down the tubes and a serious part of the blame MUST go to this worthless media coverage.

Democracy depends on responsible, diligent, strong media for it's very oxygen. As the media fail, we are seeing the asphyxiation of democracy. It's a preventable tragedy.

Rupert Murdoch wrote in a Dec 8. Wall Street journal op-ed about journalism and freedom. He suggests that the solution is to eliminate government regulations. We've seen what happened when that was done to financial markets. With malevolent predators like Murdoch play such a major role in what is literally a vital organ of democracy, it is not surprising that the result is so malignant. Murdoch would have us eliminate cross-ownership rules. Already the loss of media diversity has produced massive damage, possibly irreversible.

We DO need to fix things, but not Murdoch's way. We need tens of thousands more investigative journalists and the government could help fund them. I've written about it in depth here: Separating the Journalism Baby From the Newspapers Bathwater

This latest episode of corpsetream media failure just makes it clearer that we need to fund independent journalists who are not beholding to whore media companies like Fox, the Washington Times, zombie rags like the Philly Inquirer, now gutted and run by right-wingers. And how many more papers are in the process of expiring, as they let go of real journalists and hang on with syndicated right wing pap?

Something must be done. The congress needs some Tiger pooper scoopers.
