Want to know why the Democrats lost? Here are two headlines that tell you why

For the entire time of the Democrats control of the House and Senate, the Republicans have been totally, obstinately against anything Democratic. Days before the election, John Boehner, the next speaker of the house said, "We will not compromise."

Now, look at these two headlines from 3 November.

From the AP: "Obama signals compromise with GOP on tax cuts."

From the NYT: "Obama Vows to Work With GOP After 'Humbling' Losses."

Where has this guy Obama been for the last two years? Why does he still think that he can "work" with Republicans after they have made it perfectly clear that they have no intention of doing anything he proposes and that they absolutely will not make any compromises?

We elected Obama to get the banksters under control with regulation and to reform health care with at best universal health care, or at least a public option. Both efforts wound up torn to shreds and tatters by the Republicans to the point there's practically nothing left, with neither of the health care reforms we so desperately needed. And, all this while the Democrats had control of both houses of congress. No wonder they didn't get elected.

Why can't the Democrats figure out that they can control congress while in the minority just as well as the Republicans have controlled it while they were in the minority? The Democrats were unable to get anything they wanted done with the Republicans in the minority. Why can't the Democrats see that they can do the same thing?

Maybe they just don't have what it takes to be a pure bred sonofabitch and get things done, like Roosevelt, Truman and Johnson were and did.

We need answers to some very important questions. Why is Obama still kowtowing, bowing and scraping, tugging his forelock and kissing the asses of the Republicans? Where in the hell is the leadership we need now more than ever, now that the Republicans are back in control?

It's sickening to see Obama trying to placate the Republicans the day after the election. It's as if he's saying to the Republicans, "Yes sir, Mr. Republican, anything you say, Mr. Republican. I'll compromise myself out of existence if you want, Mr. Republican."

Is Obama willing to compromise on his position as president? Is he going to compromise with John Boehner on sharing the duties of the Presidency? It sure sounds like if Boehner says that"s what he wants, Obama is willing to "work" with him on it.

What we need is the kind of hard headed, resolute leadership that will not give an inch to anything Republican, that will fight tooth and nail for what has been gained, that will not compromise the least bit on anything.

Instead we have a leader who is the first to give up and let the Republicans have their way. When we know that the Republicans will not compromise on anything and Obama will compromise on what he wants, that means that Obama gets nothing and the Republicans get everything. We're supposed to be satisfied with that? Not bloody likely.

We need leadership that will attack the gates of hell with a sharp stick and bucket of water, and damn the consequences.

What we need is leadership that will tell the Republicans, as Dick Cheney so famously put it, "Go f**k yourself." That's what the Republicans have been saying to Obama all along, he just doesn't realize it.

Obama is, sadly, the exact opposite of what we need. Especially now.
