You need to read this! Rob Kall's declaration of war

I read Rob's article here at OpEdNews on Thursday, 28 April, Time For the Left To Declare Bloody, Ugly War Back, re-read it, ran a copy of it and read it again.

It is a cri de coeur, a cry from the heart, to finally, at last, take up arms against the enemies of the people.  We have been wanting and needing a call like this for too long.

I would like to make some suggestions addressing some of the points Rob made in the article.

We need to identify our enemy.  I think it's pretty plain that our enemy is the conservatives.  The right is at war, as Rob says, with minorities, the poor, unions, Latinos, the weak and vulnerable.  And with just plain, ordinary people.  The right is following a conservative ideology agenda.

Conservative ideology is to just sit still, do nothing, conserve what you have, take all you can get anywhere you can get it, and to hell with everybody else.  The conservatives' enemy is the progressives, the opposite of conservatism.  Progress over the past 5000 years is what has brought us to the standard of living we have today.  That's why we're called progressives.  Conservatives have fought against this every step of the way.

Of course, I'm preaching to the choir, we all know this.  We know that conservatives such as the likes of Glenn Beck and Rush Limbaugh refuse to admit and deny the fact that everything they touch in the course of the day, the very things that provide them with their lifestyle, is due to progress.  They are hypocrites, railing against the progress that has allowed them to be what they are.

We need to name the enemy in order to focus on it.  At root it is conservatism.  Using a name with an -ism suffix is appropriate.  It gives it the connotation of something dreadful, like rheumatism, autism, or Nazism.

But, conservatism is only the root, the cause of our enemy.  Our enemy is the people who have the power to pass the laws that favors conservatism.  They are the enemy because without them, the conservatives would have no more power than we do.

If the lawmakers, Democrat and Republican, who do the bidding of the conservatives, are the enemy, who are we?

I suggest that we are "the people."  Nothing more, nothing less.  That's whose interest we serve, whose betterment we seek, whose welfare we are to promote.  We are just plain folks.  I suggest we name ourselves simply the people.  Two words for those of us who will fight the war.  In all references to us we are just - the people.

Now, how to fight the war?  The primary thing the lawmakers who work for the conservatives are concerned with is getting and staying elected so they can pass more laws for the conservatives and against the people.  That's where we strike them, right there in their soft underbelly, in the lawmakers.

I know from personal experience that legislative lawmakers pay attention to written letters they receive.  They can ignore an email campaign by hitting delete, but a letter must be opened and read, and will usually result in a response.

I suggest that we wage total war against all lawmakers, but especially in congress, who ever, anytime, vote with conservatives on any issue, whatsoever.  No exceptions.  We tell them that we are watching how they vote and if they vote with conservatives, we will be writing letters to everyone concerned, that we will be telling our friends and neighbors what they have done and urging everyone possible to never vote for them again.

If we can stop conservative laws being passed, we can stop the conservative agenda.

Believe me, these politicians are scared shitless of any concerted effort to remove them from their powerful, cushy jobs.  Threaten their election and they'll straighten right up.  The way to do it is to focus on one politician at a time, to flood that one person with as many letters as possible, to increase the effect of a powerful force against them.  Then, move on to the next one.

DailyKos has the agenda in congress available, every day.  It's easy to pick off the ones who need a letter campaign to tell them what we want done.  We're not going to ask in a nice way, we're going to tell them that this is what you're to do, or this is what will happen if you don"t.
