Former US Attorney General Ramsey Clark in his book The Fire This Time - US War Crimes in the Gulf wrote, and has since kept repeating, "the greatest crime since World War II has been US foreign policy." America's most famous defector from the war establishment would of course would be gratified to hear this spoken of by leaders of nations under US military or covert CIA-CNN attack. Crimes are meant to be prosecuted, and criminals made to pay for what they have done! Otherwise, how on earth will the US led Western speculative investors in profitable genocidal crimes against humanity ever stop their investing in the massive murdering of millions of children in their own beloved countries, often as not, in their own homes in Korea, Vietnam, Laos, Congo, Guatemala, Cambodia, Dominican Republic, Lebanon, Panama, Afghanistan, Iraq, Somalia, Yemen, Libya, and Syria, just to name some of the nations in which lives have been taken to a total of tens of millions in order to maintain, as Martin Luther King cried out, "unjust predatory investments."
The trial of Nazis for genocide satisfied a demand for justice aroused in hundreds of millions of survivors of the world war the Nazis began. Although unfortunately, for the world, by its careful selectiveness, the trial served to hide American corporations' complicity in the war for having partnered with the Nazis in building Hitler's Wehrmacht. However, the trial created the Nuremberg Principles that were afterwards universally signed on to, and these laws will serve the world well, once America loses economic hegemony.
Laws under which a prosecution takes place and even the courts themselves, are created when felt necessary by enough of the citizenry. Justice is often not served until prosecution has already taken place in the hearts of enough members of society to constitute a court of public opinion that inevitably comes into session when a lack of justice becomes intolerable for a society awakened to its power by a Gandhi, a Martin Luther King, a Fidel Castro, a Che Guevara, a Hugo Chavez.
As attorney Ramsey Clark points out, nations formerly militarily occupied and plundered by Europeans over generations, and never freed economically, have been constantly criminally attacked by the USA. Yet, even while under criminal attack by the US and its equally criminal media, leaders of these nations amazingly remain diplomatically silent regarding the horrific-beyond-description prosecutable genocide wantonly committed by their attacker on fellow Third World nations.
Their not fully identifying their attacker leaves media controlled by the attacker able to go on praising the United States of America and its allied European Empires as virtuous.
The reason for Third World leaders' silence is hard to fathom when history shows that since 1945, small nation after small nation has been invaded to the basic indifference of leaders in the next nation to be hit. Presently, we witness leaders of nations in the Third World observing protocol and diplomacy with the USA, while thousands of fellow Third World citizens, victims of US-NATO bombings in Yemen, Afghanistan, Syria, Iraq, Lebanon, Libya, Somalia and other African countries, are screaming over their dead and maimed children.
At the same time that by-law-prosecutable homicidal covert CIA crimes were going on in their country, as well as in the Ukraine, Iran and elsewhere, Venezuelans were collecting millions of signatures for a petition to Obama that asks him to retract his threats toward Venezuela.
Yet, Obama is known to be just another powerless US president serving war industrialized Wall Street and at present dutifully ordering lethal multi nation bombings.
Revolutionaries will be the first to notice that the Obama being petitioned is not the Obama who openly orders all the above mentioned bombings and deadly covert CIA action against the Russian separatists in the Ukraine, against Iran and against the government in Venezuela. Likewise, the petition was not addressed to the government that Martin Luther King dismissed as, 'the greatest purveyor of violence in the world."
By this time, everyone who is well-informed is aware that US presidents are beholden to the all-powerful speculative interest banking establishment that put them in office, and are neither expected to make any personal decisions regarding anything of critical importance, nor would they ever be allowed to get in the way of the genocidal trillion dollar war industry of US investor heavies.
Contrast the petition to Obama with the blisteringly ridicule Chavez, speaking at the UN, showed Obama's predecessor Bush junior, whom he characterized as the Devil himself. Overseas fans of the Chavista revolution, like your author, remember that Chavez waved Noam Chomsky's book, Hegemony or Survival, in the air before the delegates of the UN General Assembly. Well, Noam Chomsky continues to say that all the US presidents after WW II, from Truman on, including Obama, would have been hanged if tried under the Nuremberg Principles the Nazis were tried under. Cornel West, professor of African American Studies at Princeton and of Religious Philosophy and Christian Studies at the Union Theological Seminary in New York, calls Obama "a black mascot of Wall Street oligarchs and a black puppet of corporate plutocrats," and said "he has become head of the American killing machine and is proud of it. "He's just too tied to Wall Street. And at this point he is a war criminal." President Chavez called Obama a "clown," and described the US as a "terrorist government." Chavez, said he was in possession of intelligence showing that the United States plans to invade his country.
BBC News ]
So were revolutionary Venezuelans uselessly petitioning a "clown" chief executive of a US terrorist government planning to invade Venezuela?
Collecting millions of signatures asking Obama to retract his threats toward Venezuela was not only meaningless, but served to help the CIA fed news, information and entertainment conglomerates continue to deceive its world satellite captive audience by depicting US presidents as exercising personal leadership and an African American president as a must-be-good-guy-different-than-white-imperialist-presidents. This helps the enemy mask its past and present destruction and genocides, while it attacks Venezuela.
What would Hugo Chavez, Che Guevara, a young Fidel Castro, Martin Luther King, Malcolm X and revolutionary writers of a bygone era, like Proudhon, Marx, Engels, Kropotkin, Bakunin, Rosa Luxemburg, Lenin, Trotsky and other less known shouters of the truth about Western imperialist world colonialism, say about revolutionaries being diplomatic with a genocidal enemy?
How can one even begin to understand this phenomenon wherein each victim nation protects their Great Satan attacker's media-falsified reputation as a superpower deserving of respect, even while the superpower brings death and destruction to more than a dozen helpless nations. What is the reason for empowering further US-European media ability to lie and deceive and justify a coming destruction for one's nation, while a glance at the map reminds how many nations of the Third World have fallen to the merciless US NATO juggernaut?
It is hard to believe that Venezuela's fine revolutionary leaders see US machinations to overthrow the Venezuelan revolutionary government as something that can be tackled separately and apart from all the blood soaked rest of the US Foreign Policy that Ramsey Clark calls the greatest crime since WW II? Chavez followed a policy of revolutionary internationalism.
Could the reason for allowing the US to hide its past criminality be fear of provoking the beast into doing something worst than it is already doing?
If an Iranian president would preface each negotiation with a US threatening to nuclear bomb it with a press release reminding that America's CIA confessed to overthrowing Iran's democratic government in 1959 because it nationalized its Anglo-American owned oil companies; reminding that America backed its Shah as he ordered thousands shot down in the streets; reminding that President Reagan supported and assisted Saddam Hussain in his eight year long invasion war of Iran which took a million lives, could the USA respond with instituting procedures that would be even more barbaric than those already in place?
If Kim Jong-un would start a campaign to educate the world that the US, prior to invading Korea and cutting it in half, had for forty years de-recognized Korea as territory of Imperial Japan in exchange for Japanese recognition of the Philippines as US territory, could the US government punish it with international sanctions and provocative war games off North Korea's coast worst than it has been doing for sixty-two years?
If President Assad, instead of arguing reasonably in his defense, would keep pointing out publicly that the USA that slanders him is the USA responsible for the seven million Holocaust in French Indochina, and that of three million in Korea and lives of up to two million taken in Iraq, how much worse could Washington arrange than the present savage invasions, massacres and destruction?
Granted that even for revolutionaries, diplomatically remaining silent about a potential adversary's crimes can, in certain circumstances, be prudent. Fidel Castro always maintained good diplomatic relations with the Vatican, a power throughout Latin America. No point in repeating the truth about the Vatican's supporting role during the genocidal European conquest and colonialization of Latin America. Chavez compassionately proved himself to be a better disciple of Jesus in feeding the hungry and caring for the sick, than enemies of his revolution within the hierarchy of the Venezuelan Catholic church. His behavior silently argued for his revolution and he often crossed himself in sincere devotion in public.
However, being respectfully diplomatic with the Commander-in-Chief of a US NATO military prepared to do what it did to Iraq and Libya for control of Venezuela's oil, during what Chavez pointed out to be "a new and craziest era of imperialism, seems alarming."
"Chavez saw Venezuela as part of a global movement challenging half a millennium of colonialism, imperialism and racism; a global movement that included China, Brazil, Russia, Zimbabwe, Libya, Syria, South Africa, Cuba, Belarus, Vietnam, Iran, Ecuador, Bolivia, DPRK, Nicaragua, Argentina and more. He understood the urgent need for a very wide-ranging unity in order to resist this onslaught. If unity is strength, then one can't just stand by and watch the empire pick off our allies one by one. As he put it during a visit to South Africa in 2008: "A day can't be lost and a second can't be lost in the work of uniting us, the countries of the Third World, saving the world from the imperialism and capitalist hegemony that threaten the human species." [Hugo Cha'vez -- Revolutionary Internationalist, Invent the Future, by Carlos Martinez, 7/28/14]
Seemingly following the axiom 'when the truth is on your side, the best defense is offense,'President Chavez, as did the above cited revolutionaries of the past, took every media covered opportunity to go on the offensive. "Let's save the human race -- let's finish off the empire." This statement was made by Hugo Chavez in a meeting with his Iranian counterpart, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad -- as he received the Islamic republic's highest honor, for his role in supporting Iran's stance on the international scene.
"During Bashar al-Assad's 2010 visit to Caracas, Chavez said,"We should fight to create consciousness that is free from imperialist doctrine" fight to defeat backwardness, poverty, misery" to convert our countries into true powers through the consciousness of the people. Syria and Venezuela are at the vanguard of this struggle." When Syria came under threat of regime change in 2011, Cha'vez and his government were quick to state their loyalty to the Syrian government. "This is a crisis that has been planned and provoked" This crisis has a single cause: the world has entered into a new era of imperialism.
Cha'vez publicly recognized Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi as an important ally in the global struggle against imperialism: someone who had freed his country from colonial domination, developed an decentralized socialist democracy with the highest human development index, highest life expectancy, lowest infant mortality and highest literacy rate in Africa, and tangibly supported socialist and anti-imperialist movements around the world from Ireland to South Africa, Nicaragua to Palestine, Dominica to Namibia. Cha'vez visited Libya five times during his presidency. In Tripoli for the 40th anniversary of the Libyan revolution (2009), Chavez declared that Venezuela and Libya "have the same fate, the same battle against a common enemy" "Gaddafi is for Libya what Bolvar is for us"
It was Cha'vez's and Gaddafi's shared goal to usher in a new era of wide-ranging, meaningful cooperation between Africa and Latin America. As with Syria, Cha'vez understood from the beginning what the media spun 'uprising' in Libya was all about. Cha'vez spoke out in defense of his friend and comrade: "A campaign of lies is being spun together regarding Libya." Following Gaddafi's death, Cha'vez said in a statement "We shall remember Gaddafi our whole lives as a great fighter, a revolutionary and a martyr. They assassinated him." [Venenzuelanaayisis, by Carlos Martinez, 8/4/2014]
A few months ago, at the Venezuelan Consulate in New York, your author, for years inspired by Chavez's revolutionary leadership, met the wonderful new Venezuelan Ambassador to the United Nations and received his promise to see that President Maduro received the following:
To His esteemed and beloved Excellency President N-colas:
People in Korea and Vietnam, especially young people, like my students, now professional musicians, just want to get on with their lives and forget that the Devil came and murdered their family members and friends by the millions. Implicit in this desire, though unexpressed is, 'and let the Devil get on with mass murdering in other small countries.' However, Mr. President, if these Koreans and Vietnamese should hear a Venezuelan president or foreign minister calling attention to the Holocaust size genocide the USA put on them, first, they would be astonished that Venezuelans, or anyone, were considerate of Koreans and Vietnamese, and second, they would immediately take an interest in Venezuela's attempting to fight off the same USA that destroyed their country.
Your truly by way of credentials has both Korean and Vietnamese family, and is a founding-professor of the Korean National University of the Arts Music Conservatory and from 1993 to 1999 was Assistant Conductor of the Ho Chi Minh founded Vietnam National Symphony. Mr. President, In Asia alone, there are billion potential allies of a Venezuela suffering merciless unrelenting USA attack!
If Venezuela, in every argument with the superpower, mentioned the US murdered millions in Iraq and throughout the whole of the Middle East and much of Africa, a billion Muslims would turn there heads toward Venezuela in interest and support.
If Venezuelans would point out that US hero Martin Luther King condemned his own government as the "greatest purveyor of violence in the world," and held himself and all Americans, responsible for "atrocity wars on three continents for unjust predatory investments since 1945," millions would cheer Venezuela and its revolution.
Good luck, Mr. President, jay janson
Your author earlier had had the exhilarating experience of passing regards from our mutual friend, Ramsey Clark, to President Maduro, himself, in person, after his tough speech to a thrilled Latino audience at a New York college the day before he addressed the UN General Assembly, and was able to put into his hands my article MADURO! Please Remind Obama! MLK Condemned US Atrocities Covert Violence on Three Continents, published by Counter Currents, Kerala, India, 3/4/2014, synopsis of which reads "Tell Americans and the world that the corporate media that works to destroy the beautiful Chavista peaceful revolution for a government of all Venezuelans, is the same media Martin Luther King condemned for lying and promoting the American war in Vietnam. [www.countercurrents.org/janson270214.htm]
"Dear President N-colas, your dear friend, former US Att. Gen. Ramsey Clark, co-founder of the Martin Luther King Condemned US Wars International Awareness Campaign, asks that you bring to world attention Martin Luther King's words "my government is the greatest purveyor of violence in the world - for the sake of the hundreds of thousands trembling under our violence, I cannot be silent!" [click here ] A disabling bombshell would fall upon the criminal US media conglomerates, if their forty-eight year blackout of Martin Luther King condemnations of US wars on the Third World was exposed. King was assassinated because his words stunned, sabotaged, and undermined, the US media cartel owned by investors in genocide. Article ends with the plea, Querido Maestro Presidente, as Cha'vez quoted Noam Chomsky, please quote a gagged and murdered Martin Luther King. All humanity suffers as a genocidal USA is given free ride?
In March, 2014, many of us were thrilled and gratified when Venezuelan Foreign Minister Elias Jawa received US media attention for having called US Secretary John Kerry "a murderer!"[ click here ] Finally, many of us thought, arguing with the likes of Obama, McCain, John Kerry or others guilty of so many documented brutal crimes against humanity is coming to an end.
If only TeleSUR would sound-bite King's having deplored the past intervention of Green Beret forces in Venezuela and the embarrassing words of Nelson Mandela, speaking at the 2003 International Women's Forum,:"If there is a country that has committed unspeakable atrocities in the world, it is the United States of America......they don't care for human beings.'' If only presidents Maduro, Morales, Correa, Mujica, Castro, Ortega, Rouhani, Assad, and Kim would remind the world that US hero Martin Luther King Jr. held "America, Americans and himself responsible for the atrocity wars and covert violence on three continents, since 1945, meant to maintain unjust predatory investments Latin America, Asia and Africa!"
The speculative banking industry run world superpower, with its media control, can ally the whole First World against any Third World nation including Venezuela. It will continue to be disastrous for each nation attacked to allow the utterly discrediting US-NATO genocidal series of past crimes against humanity to remain forgotten by billions of people that would otherwise be protective allies of unfairly attacked fellow Third World peoples. Reminding the world's conscience of indefensible, horrendous, ghastly crimes against children in the Third World would disable US-EU media's power to promote false justifications for more US-NATO military interventions.
The text of the petition, which prompted this article ends with "Venezuela, a peace-loving nation, calls on the U.S. government to fulfill its international obligations regarding the respect for a country's self-determination and the right of its people to freely choose their own path." [ click here ]
Has the US ever respected "a country's self-determination and the right of its people to freely choose their own path"? In Asia, in Africa, in the Middle East, even in Europe, as in Greece in 1946 and Yugoslavia in the 1980s, has the US respected even the right of nations not to be bombed or invaded.
The USA has either invaded or managed to overthrow the government of every country in Latin America. Were these nations not also "peace-loving nations?"
May readers, who have come to their own conclusions about usefulness of the Venezuelan petition to Obama, ponder why no one seems to want to tell the whole truth about the United States of American's prosecutable crimes against humanity as Chavez, King, Fidel, Che among others did? And wonder why so few believe Americans and citizens of NATO nations will never be subjected to enumerable lawsuits that will be adjudicated in a court created by a reconstituted UN in a coming time when US economic and political power has waned. (There is, after-all, no statute of limitation on genocide, neither one on single murders, nor on invasions of innocent nations.)
Was not Xi Jingping, the President of China, encouraging to Chavistas when he said, speaking at the July 26 Historical Museum in Santiago de Cuba,"Revolutionary martyrs are precious spiritual treasures that have inspired us to continuously march forward." (More recently, China's president suggested, "it is perhaps a good time for the befuddled world to start considering building a de-Americanised world") Reminding everyone of massive US crimes against humanity would be incalculable protection against US media continuing to successfully promote more.
