It's hard to decide where to start discussing Trump's Tulsa Oklahoma rally last night. It's all so much fun.
Let's start with turnout. It was a disaster. Almost all of the upper tier seats were empty. Attendance estimates ranged from 9,000 to 15,000 for the 19,000 seat venue. Trump's campaign manager Brad Parscale blamed it on protesters blocking access to entry. Trump described the protesters as really bad people. Yet news reports say that only one of three entrances was blocked and that was 15 minutes before the rally started.
The fun part about the turnout, which Trump ballyhooed as going to be be a record, with a million people signed up. It turns out that teenagers punked Trump and his team by signing up for the event with no intention of attending. The irony is that there's no doubt that Trump and his surrogates have used sock puppets and surrogates on Facebook and elsewhere. Trump's people know how it works. But it appears they were totally blindsided by teenagers.
Trump spent 14 minutes explaining his awkward walk on the ramp after his address to cadets. He spent an incredible amount of time talking about drinking water and finally demonstrated that he could drink water with one hand. And his MAGA crowd literally gave him a standing ovation-- for drinking water with one hand. Is it possible to lower the bar any further? In world history's annals of narcissism Trump brought us to a new depth. Think Marianas Trench deep.
Trump said that this rally was the start of his reactivation and re-energization of his campaign. It looks more like it was the beginning of slide into disrepute and failure. This is Joe Biden's campaign to lose at this point. Of course, with the help of the Democratic leadership, there's a good chance that Biden WILL end up losing. We're talking about dumb and dumberer.
