The headline in yesterday's New York Times online newsletter read, "The Opioid Crisis, Overdoses are increasing at a troubling rate". [1]
The author German Lopez writes, "Drug overdoses now kill more than 100,000 Americans a year-more than vehicle crash and gun deaths combined".
"No other advanced nation is dealing with a comparable drug crisis". Lopez listed "fentanyl", a synthetic opioid as a major culprit and "OxyContin" a supposed opioid painkiller to be "more effective" and "less addictive", this from Purdue Pharma that made the claim.
