Every time the Democrats in Congress take a total flying squat, as they did on the already much regretted health care bill, we hear from people who say, "But I like MY member of Congress." And that is precisely why we have been saddled with the turkey of a bill that we have now. As long as folks keep giving THEIR member of Congress a totally unjustified pass, there is exactly zero chance for any real change.
If you have had enough, and recognize that NEITHER the Democrats NOR the Republicans will ever give us anything other than more corporate rule, there is a new Independent Voters page on Facebook, ready whenever you are.

Those of us who have so-called progressives supposedly representing us in Congress have cause to complain the loudest. More than sixty of them declared in no uncertain terms last fall that NO bill would pass without a strong "public option". They were the ones who were supposed to be fighting for us. In the end, not ONE of them was worth as much as a pre-inflation three dollar bill in the standing strong department. Instead, they did the opposite, working en masse to drag anybody who would hold out back into their slime pit of cowardice.
We happened to listen in over the weekend to a radio show forum of prospective Democratic candidates for the primaries. And the moderator, even as he was acknowledging how unhappy people were with the health care bill, was talking all this rah-rah talk about how we need to elect more Democrats so we can pass Medicare for All. Did he mean that as some kind of joke?
And we lay 100 percent of the blame on the Democratic so-called Progressive Caucus, who have demonstrated once again that they are an entirely worthless throwaway, incapable of ever taking a stand and sticking to it when their vote might actually make the difference, good for nothing but a bit of phony grandstanding and weakly smiling constituent stroking, until the vote actually might be close, the designated door mats of Washington D.C., never to aspire for anything more.
Please don't try to tell us you are happy with the way you being represented. Please don't try to tell us you consider total abject surrender to be good enough. If so, there is nothing more we can do to help you.
Does anyone else remember the sham of an "impeachment" show hearing in 2008, where people were forbidden of accusing George Bush personally of even committing a crime. At what point do we get the pathetically sick joke this all is?
Let them tell us again about how they are all against these vain, revenue sucking, counter productive, international hatred of America rousing wars of aggression. Does anyone actually believe even one of them would vote to cut off funding if theirs was the vote that would make it happen? Why are we hearing nothing but crickets?
Or is it squeaking? The reality is that even those with presumptive good hearts have the hearts of mice.
We can do better. We have to do better. There is no excuse why the districts that are predominantly progressive in this country can't elect true lion hearted progressives instead.
But it is now clear that this can never happen on a ballot line labeled Democrat. The brand itself is now poison. The truths we speak here are apparent also to the general public, who cannot be blamed for their part if they never believe a word that comes out of the mouth of someone running as a Democrat ever again. They were given the most compelling majorities in congressional history, the power to actually change things, and they would NOT. Instead, they did nothing but give corporations even more of a stranglehold on our health care.
Nobody will ever vote in a general election for a Democrat again, except for the most die hard of "my party right or wrong" partisans, or except as the so-called "lesser" of two evils.
