Allegiance to the Democratic half of the duopoly - whether active or passive - is still allegiance to corporate rule, not a strategy for transformative change.

"The Republicans busy themselves emboldening racists, while the Democrats crush the left."

For the second presidential election cycle in a row, the corporate Democrats face their ideal opponent -- a racist so brazen and personally repulsive that Blacks and progressives abandon their own historic agendas to make common cause with mass incarcerators, war mongers and job-destroying oligarchs. The formula failed to keep the White House "blue" in 2016, due primarily to the corporate Democrats' refusal to prevent or punish the Republicans' massive -- and totally successful -- suppression of Black votes (See Greg Palast.) Although Hillary Clinton was personally humiliated by Donald Trump's Electoral College victory, her "big tent" strategy succeeded in pulling most of the ruling oligarchy, corporate media, and National Security State firmly into the Democratic camp. This year, by hook and crook, and with Trump as the terrifying Strawman-in-Chief, the corporate Democrats were once again enabled to crush Bernie Sanders, a challenger whose positions on core issues matched those of 70 to 85 percent of the Party's base.

From the Lords of Capitals' standpoint, Clinton's "big tent" strategy has been a huge success. The only potential threats to Big Capital's continued control of the national agenda emanates, not from Trump -- who gifted the ruling class with its wish-list of tax breaks, Supreme Court justices and capital deregulation without effective resistance from corporate Democrats -- but from the blue party's electoral base, which has been totally eviscerated as a "resistance" to anything but Trump, and from the Black-led street movement, whose most high profile personalities became Democratic Party players during the Trump years. Even the 20 million-plus George Floyd protests of last June can be viewed largely as an anti-Trump phenomena that will not likely be replicated under a Democratic regime - despite the fact that most highly publicized police murders of Blacks (like this week's 10-bullet shooting of a mentally-challenged man in Philadelphia) occur in Democrat-led cities.

Organized labor pretends the Democrats are a labor party, although it's run by men like Bezos and Bloomberg, while a big chunk of their white members feel free to vote their race.

"Even the 20 million-plus George Floyd protests of last June can be viewed largely as an anti-Trump phenomena."

The phony U.S. Left - judged by where they stand, not how they talk - swears they will "confront" a Joe Biden/Kamala Harris regime once the Orange Menace is swept into the dustbin. Bernie Sanders, the national health care advocate who slinked back into the corporate bosom of the Party at the very moment when Covid-19 was proving beyond doubt that the United State has no national health structure, vows to move "forward with an agenda that speaks to the needs of the working people of our country" when Trump is safely gone from the White House. But $50 billionaire Michael Bloomberg, acting on behalf of his fellow super-oligarchs, is now the Financier-in-Chief of the Democrats and, with Nancy Pelosi's able assistance, will ensure that the Party remains a cemetery for progressive movements.

After November 3, the Green Party will cease to be an alternative in more states, thanks mainly to Democratic machines that have made it impossible for Greens to remain on the ballot. The cutting edge of the dictatorship of capital is Democratic. The Republicans busy themselves emboldening racists, while the Democrats crush the left. The young activists of the Movement for a Peoples Party, most of them former Bernie Sanders enthusiasts, can expect the same treatment if they attempt to escape the duopoly's shackles.

The Democrats have always been equal partners in U.S. imperial wars, but under the Clinton-Biden "big tent" are now indisputably the more aggressive warmongers, chomping at the bit to contain and punish the Russians and Chinese and all nations that hesitate to join in the global offensive begun by Barack Obama in 2011, with his attack on Libya, and then Syria, and then the coup in Ukraine and the "pivot" against China.

"The Democrats are now indisputably the more aggressive warmongers."

With Democrats leading the charge, domestic opposition to U.S. imperialism is now equated with treason. Only weeks after the 2016 election, oligarch Jeff Bezos' Washington Post put Black Agenda Report and twelve other left publications on a blacklist of "dupes" of Russia. The old McCarthyism has become Clintonism, Obamaism, Pelosism, and now Bidenism. (See "Fascism with a Democratic Party Face," BAR, November 30, 2016,)

The political weakness of the Black street movement is most evident in the behavior of the Congressional Black Caucus, which has voted overwhelmingly to continue the militarization of local police (2014) and to make cops a "protected class," assaults against whom are now a "hate crime" (2018). The Black Lives Matter movement has not altered the anti-Black, pro-police, pro-mass Black incarceration political behavior of the men and women that represent Black America in Congress, because BLM has failed to target Black Democratic politicians, even when they act en mass against Black interests. Black lives are apparently less important than Black faces in high Democratic places, who need only wear kente cloth on occasion to ward off the young Black legions. The spear is blunted.

Allegiance to the Democratic half of the duopoly - whether active or passive - is still allegiance to corporate rule, not a strategy for transformative change. Both Malcolm X and MLK rejected such a stance.

"BLM has failed to target Black Democratic politicians, even when they act en mass against Black interests."

FALSE 'MONEY' (Greek 'mnemosis' = 'memory') controls every colonial 'S-ELECTION'. For 5000 years, 'exogenous' (Latin 'other-generated') false-money-issuing oligarch empire rulers, installed through invasion & colonial genocide, have commanded & controlled their puppets in every western government. Colonialism is the export of this failed economic & ecological system worldwide. European 'settlers' were refugees from the failed oligarch-money controlled system. Most being beholding & submissive to their violent colonial masters, colluded to impose the same failure here. The only sovereign humane system foundation for government is 'indigenous' (L 'self-generating') multistakeholder participatory Economic-Democracy. There's a 1st Nation indigenous fractal system of governance here on Turtle-Island (North-America) If people don't control campaign-financing & our money-system, then we don't have 'democracy' (Gk 'power-of-the-people'). Stop chasing oligarch illusions. Stay home & in community to get the jobs, organization & 'economy' (Gk 'oikos' = 'home' + 'namein' = 'care-&-nurture') done. for file on indigenous Economic Democracy Click Here

What specific policies did "lunatic" sign that differs from his immediate predecessor?

This is a duopoly and Trump is perhaps unique in his persona but I would like to hear more from you on specifics.

Yeah, exactly. I specifically remember Obama saying we should pull out of the Paris Climate Accord and Iran Nuclear Deal. Also, it's well known Obama was strongly in favor of opening up wilderness areas for oil drilling and he was also a big fan of eliminating the stupid rules preventing industrial waste being dumped into streams. Not only that, Obama spoke publicly on many occasions of the need to reverse key provisions of the NLRA. It's about time someone pointed out, except for Trump being a wretched, moronic narcissist, there is essentially zero difference between the two.

Thanks, Art.

Obama was smooth and he made sure that the Paris Accord had no means of enforcement. It was shell game that provided nothing. Regarding the Iran Nuclear Deal, that was yet another shell game. Iran had no nuclear weapons program. The sanctions were (and are) based on lies then and now.

Yes Obama did provide more permits for drilling and fracking on public land and water (pristine Artic) than any other president (including GW Bush the oil president). Obama boasted of it in Texas when he left office. His was a deceitful administration (WoPo never kept a count) that pushed forward a coup in Ukraine and Honduras (leading to thousands of children fleeing and entering the US). It was Obama who holds the record for the greatest number of immigrant deportation; it's Obama who spent billions on detention centers separating children from parents, and continued to build a border "wall/fence" begun over multiple administrations. It was Obama who started drone warfare kill thousands of innocent people in Afghanistan, Somalia and throughout the ME, expanding Bush's wars from 2 to 7 and heating up a cold war with Russia with plans to pivot to Asia.

Trump has continued these policies, perhaps more blatantly and with less finesse, but the policies have not substantially changed. Obama wanted war with Syria, Trump with Iran. And that's a very short list.

Some fu@@ing difference.

Art, I owe you an apology. I completely forgot to mention the Supreme Court justices Obama nominated were avowed over-the-top right wingers, every bit the corporate enabling fascists as Gorsuch, Kavanaugh and Coney-Barrett are. I have no idea why McConnell stopped Merrick Garland's confirmation - it's widely known how favorable his views are towards corporations usurping actual people's rights and liberties and how much distaste he has for counting the votes of black people. You'd think Republicans would have welcomed him with open arms.

But even the tone Obama set for the country, beyond the policies themselves, was identical in nearly every respect to what Trump has done. I remember when Obama said there are good people on both sides after nine black people were killed by a psychotic racist in Charleston, SC. And the time he told the white supremacist paramilitary to stand back and stand by, in case armed civilians might be needed to maintain the peace. Plus, I happen to know that Obama was just itching for the opportunity to send military troops into the streets somewhere to intimidate and shut up protesters.

So, just reinforcing your keen observation. Pick between Trump and Obama? Or Biden for that matter? Bah, flip a coin, zero difference.

Thanks again.

And I forgot Obama's threat "Assad must go" regime change and his close working with the CIA on such operations. His brutal destruction of Libya, a nation of relative prosperity with equality of the genders we've never achieved, free health care for all, free schooling through college, housing for married couples, grassroots governance, support of north Africa and the African people, gone, destroy, turned into a failed state with slave trade. That was an Obama policy.

The Supreme Court has been and continues to be an institution that supports the wealthy property owners. Voting on a president because he may replace a member of the supreme court is a ruse.

What you seem not to understand is Obama was a front man for the power brokers, just like those before and after him. The carnage in his wake is horrific. Maybe you don't care about the brown people murdered, the trillion dollar nuclear modernization program he started. The tripling of US taxpayer funds to Israel. And yes, oh yes this gem: "Obama Told Aides He's 'Really Good At Killing People'.

Getting the picture Stephen? This is how the empire is run regardless of the POTUS party affiliation. It's been this way since the beginning. Policies are qualitatively no different, even if the persona has a different audience appeal. The rulers, the real rulers rule. You get to vote for the one they select.

What?? The world runs according to power?? Stop the presses!!! Who else have you told???

I missed your plan for wresting control away from these power brokers. If you don't know how to do that, you must desist in this bizarre equivocation between Trump and Obama. Or Scalia and RBG. Or nearly any Republican and any Democrat. It's such an absurd claim it doesn't warrant copying and pasting the counter evidence here. Google it.

Well you're asking me to "fix" this?

It's civilization, you know the thing we think can only be the best of life on planet Earth. It's been killing us.

Civilization's arch enemy is anarchy. Read some Tolstoy or Tom Paine or Bookchin to understand anarchism. Civilization hates it more than the devil. We've been civilized to death.

Anarchism as a way toward egalitarianism. Bioregions. Small is beautiful.

Gaddafi's Green Book and Great Socialist People's Libyan Arab Jamahiriya snuffed out by western civilization as were most of the world's indigenous people, and flora and fauna.

Trump is the immediate danger. Note the armed "militias" out on the streets supporting and receiving support from the lunatic in chief. Reminds me of the Brown Shirts that supported Hitler before WW2. If Democrats win the presidency and both houses of Congress, then we can have a conversation about the future and direction of this country. Until then we must do everything we can to eliminate the clear and present danger that is Donald Trump.

Glen, your sentiments are as true as they are pointless. Put your energy into ranked choice voting if you want to make a difference. Politicians will act differently if they need a majority to get re-elected. Duopoly is a foregone conclusion given how we do elections.

Sigh. The duopoly is mildewed and metastasized, riddled with chaos and blind to the long future. There is another choice: the third party, Libertarian, with America's founding principles of "all ... created equal, with unalienable [equal] rights to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness". Get government out of areas not Constitutionally allocated to it. Get the power grabbers out of our lives, let us be free to choose how we structure our lives, with no one being a predator against others, depriving others of their unalienable rights. If everyone disenchanted with the duopoly's internal rot votes Libertarian, votes for Dr. Jo Jorgensen, we could achieve a historical precedent of justice and liberty for all.

Well said as usual Glen. The two parties are nothing more then corporate franchises. Neither has any interest in helping the 99% in any way. In fact we are in the way as far as they are concerned. Useless eaters to be marginalized to the point of irrelevance. The people voting for either of them are responding to their fear reflex, not their critical faculties. I refuse to be bullied into voting against the interests of humanity.

We either build something new from outside the duopoly or we get crushed by it.
