Oops. Scott Brown may have handed Elizabeth Warren the election last night.
Senator Brown was asked to name his model Supreme Court Justice.
His answer-- Antonin Scalia.
That put a really big, though slightly suppressed smile on Elizabeth Warren's face.
Actually, it's worth watching this 15 second video to see how Warren first covers her ROFLMAO facial expression.
It's no wonder. Browns choice delivers worlds of information about what Brown really believes and stands for and it is NOT the independent, pro-choice guy he's worked so hard to sell himself as.
Scalia is anti-choice, anti-Roe-v-Wade, pro-Citizens United, pro-globalization and free trade, anti-gay marriage, pro-voucher... see more
here.
Bottom line, it's between Scalia and Thomas as to who is the most partisan member of the Supreme Court.
If Brown was smart, or if he'd been wisely prepped, he'd have answered Justice O'Connor-- a moderate, a woman. But he didn't even use her or other former justices who were conservative moderates when he went to list other options. He disingenuously mentioned Sotomayor and then, finally, Kennedy. He was too late. The slip had shown.
In poker, when you clue your opponents to your hand, it's called a "tell."
Scott Brown just showed a major "tell," and it's going to be used-- is already being used-- to help independents and Democrats who were leaning towards an "independent" Brown, decide that he's not anything like what he professes to be.
