Theologian, priest, and author of dozens of books, Rev. Dr. Matthew Fox, penned this insightful public letter to Rush Limbaugh upon Limbaugh's announcement that he has terminal lung cancer.

I've attended Fox's profound presentations as well as his heart-centered and innovative "Cosmic Mass," a spiritual rave that replaces pews with a dance floor.

Thomas Berry, author of The Great Work, The Dream of the Earth and The Universe Story, notes "Matthew Fox might well be the most creative, the most comprehensive, surely the most challenging religious-spiritual teacher in America . He has the scholarship, the imagination, the courage, the writing skill to fulfill this role at a time when the more official Christian theological traditions are having difficulty in establishing any vital contact with either the spiritual possibilities of the present or with their own most creative spiritual traditions of the past." He has, it seems, created a new mythic context for leading us out of our contemporary religious and spiritual confusion into a new clarity of mind and peace of soul, by affirming rather than abandoning any of our traditional beliefs."

Benedictine monk, yogi and author, Fr. Bede Griffiths, OSB, said,"(Matthew Fox's) creation spirituality is the spirituality of the future and his Theology of the Cosmic Christ is the theology of the future." ( Excerpt from: audio tape, "Spirituality for a New Era)

Dear Mr Limbaugh,

Here we are at a low point in the history of American democracy and on the eve of the acquittal of Mr. Trump from wrongdoing by a compliant Senate that seems as married to the god Chronos (who ate his children as all climate-deniers are doing) and to the idolatry of power. And the news comes out that you are facing a showdown with cancer.

Do you really believe Rush Limbaugh is going to have a death bed conversion? Sorry, I agree with Fox's sentiments. But, neither Limbaugh nor Trump will rise to such heights in this lifetime even if Jesus Christ crossed their paths. We can't see what we can't see, or won't see.

LOL, I posted this because I thought Matthew Fox wrote an amazing letter! I'm not losing any sleep over whatever Rush does.

I agree with you, Meryl. I shared it with several Episcopalian brothers and was quite disappointed in their comments:

1. They are both wacky- where is the middle way?

2. "If the string is too tight it will break; if too loose it will not play."

The second response is from a lawyer who has a Ph.D. in English Lit.

We should use Matthew Fox's letter to stir us to examine

our own lives. That being said, I think Limbaugh, Trump,

etc. chose their paths a long time ago.
