Cricket is now named as the second most popular sport worldwide next to football. It has over. 5billion followers worldwide. However, this isn't really the case in India because it's simply the most popular sport in the country.
In fact, around 70 percent of cricket's global revenue is all from India. This is proof that India is a cricket nation and will probably continue to remain the same for a long time. India's relationship with cricket is already as deep as the young locals are also known to love this sport. Hence, the future of cricket in the country is looking bright and even bigger.
India's national sport is known to be Hockey, but the reality is that cricket is still dominating their sports industry. Professionally or not, everyone is into it. The local people play, watch, and wager on it. It's a sport that they simply love to be involved with.
In India, you can see kids and adults playing cricket on the streets. Cricket clinics are also widely spread across the country. Many young people are aiming to be the next cricket superstar. After all, this is a very lucrative industry in India. Cricket is just really so popular that other sports are seemingly ignored by many in this country.
Cricket in this country has surely come a long way since the English people brought it there. The involvement of cricket to Indian nationals can be traced as early as 1722. It was said that this sport was brought to India by English sailors. It was in 1848 when the first Indian club was then formed. This club is the Parsee Oriental Cricket Club and their first match happened in Bombay or Mumbai.
Basically, it appears that it was in the mid-1700s when the country started to love cricket. Currently, the most popular cricket tournament and India and one of the most popular sporting events worldwide is the India Premier League or the IPL.
The IPL is a profession T20 League in India and was founded in 2008 by the Board of Control for Cricket in India. This league is now made up of 8 leagues. These are the following leagues that will compete for the IPL 2020.

The auction for the 13th IPL has already happened in December of last year and this just really made fans more excited about the next league. There is a total of 332 players that will participate in this year's IPL.
