Just before his death
This is not an essay about Yasser Arafat. The great man is sick, and he's being treated in Paris. It is a sad and frightening occasion for us. And yet this essay is not about Yasser Arafat. It is about us -- here in Bangladesh. Yet not about all of us, but about a fraction of the people of Bangladesh -- the so-called educated and the so-called intellectuals.
