Democracy-- For Sale, Brokered by Roberts, Thomas, Scalia, Alito and Kennedy
The damage the five Supreme Court Justices have done to democracy in America is evident with these numbers.
The article informs us that 138 of them supported Republicans, 20 supported Democrats, all giving at least $250,000. Then there were another 200 families who gave more than $100,000. Between the two groups, they provided more than 50% of the "money in the presidential election." And it was primarily given to Republicans. The prime reason they give is to affect regulations which impact their ability to make more money.
The article mentions backers of Republicans on the right and Hillary Clinton on the left. Sanders is not mentioned in the article at all.
I'm proud to have made three donations to the Bernie Sanders campaign, $10, $10 and $18. Given my income, one could say, proportionately, that I've been more twice as generous as Chicago hedge fund billionaire Kenneth C. Griffin, with an income of over $68 million a month, who donated $300,000. That works out to about $15, compared to my income.
This is the Democracy we have thanks to the the five supreme court justices who gave us Citizens United.
If, or when the United States falls as a democracy, or some would say, when it undeniably becomes a corporate plutocracy, which it is well on the way to becoming, the traitorous justices will be blamed by history for that fall. Their infamy should be repaid with impeachment, prosecution and imprisonment, if not the ultimate punishment. What crime is worse than betraying and stealing democracy? And most likely, foreign money, from outside the USA, has been comingled with the moneys that have been donated. I don't think anyone, including the Federal Election Commission, is tracking to see the sources of the money going to Super-pacs. That used to matter.
Bernie Sanders has said that he will apply a litmus test to anyone he appoints to the supreme court-- that they will reverse Citizens United. That's a start. But the traitors should be brought to full justice-- and that means prosecution as traitors, nothing less.
That's down the road
