Does anyone remember those "adults in the room"?
That Anonymous letter that made such a boom?
I know I read it and gave thanks to the stars,
Glad there was someone who kept Don out of bars,
Keeping him clean on the straight and the narrow:
Don not by nature what you'd call a straight arrow.

But after this business of war with Iran,
I'm starting to wonder if these adults can,
Or if their opinions Don don't take with salt,
On having found in them a great deal of fault,
If they've been swept out with Donald's big broom,
Or if they might simply be in the wrong room.

For Mr. Prez waltzes on his merry way,
Jabbing erratically with steady tweet spray,
Insulting everyone and then making nice,
Going to brinks and then thinking twice.
He hasn't cried "Rocketman" for a good while,
Perhaps the "adults" have succeeded in style.

Are Jared and Ivanka the ones tab-keeping?
For they're sure everywhere on Don Tom-peeping,
Here sitting at table across from Chinese,
There making Bibi and his pals feel at ease,
Of course for experience they're really not best,
But I'm proud at table Ivanka's best-dressed.

They do the best that can be humanly done,
These "adults" who for us are riding shotgun,
And I for one wish I could send them a gift,
Anything to give them some hope and some lift,
Because Don still carries the signs of a kook,
And I pray they'll keep him from using a nuke.
