Whether vampires, zombies or viral plagues wiping millions of us off the planet, people love to be scared. End-of-the-world flicks are popular because aside from their vicarious thrills, there is the understanding that we will walk away unscathed at the end. This no-risk assurance frees one's mind to enjoy whatever the carnage and come back for more.
What if in reality, there WERE such a viral pandemic? One so pervasive, yet no less lethal, than the Hollywood variety? One never discussed, and so beyond the comprehension of the majority, that it is almost completely invisible and hiding in plain sight. Since we are defenseless against those threats we do not recognize, this pandemic continues to spread, unchecked.
Its contagion is massive and it appears that most of us within society are already infected to varying degrees.
The end stage of this disease is most apparent to those suffering the mildest form. They are the few individuals able to recognize the depth of sickness in those around them.
In its final, terminal stage, total blindness dominates; driving those with the disease to their own destruction, taking everyone and everything with them. They have gone from once contributing to society, to brainless dullards and finally, morphed into individual weapons of mass destruction bent on propelling the world toward complete collapse.
Humanity is in its death throes, with its poisonous trickle-down psychopathy, continuously taught to our young, and infecting the majority of the populace.
We have no chance to mitigate the challenges of global implosion, when those leading us are batsh*t crazy, dragging us to perdition, and need to be confined to the nearest rubber room.
