We need to have a US Administration -- we hope it will be the Obama Administration -- who will finally say in 1948 the United Nations and the USA & Britain (world powers) made a mistake.

We need to take this back to the drawing board of the United Nations, and the USA must forego its veto, and allow a 50-50 split of a contiguous Israeli State and contiguous Palestinian State with secure borders, and   with Jerusalem divided, or becoming universal city under   a United Nations protectorate.

Until this happens the formation of a reasonable Palestinian State is a pipe dream.

The so-called "friendship" between the USA and Israel is really a dysfunctional relationship.   Israel acting out, as the disobedient self-indulgent child (Ayn Rand "self preservation"), and America, as the over protective, enabling in bad behaviors parent.

Israel uses our special friendship, as a cudgel.   Every time they feel even slightly threatened they bring out the "F" (Friendship) bomb -- "We are your best friend in the Middle East.   We are the only democracy in the Middle East!"   A gentle tug to remind   America to "Heel boy". (How else would you treat a best friend, but like Man's best friend?).   Be not fooled: Israel is the Master in this relationship, and America the stooge!

The narrow range in US policy towards Israel with the "Israel can do no wrong" (respecter of persons) of Reagan and Bush II to the more principled stand of Bush, Sr. (James Baker), Clinton, and now Obama is but a narrow divide -- with one parent being as out of control, as the rotten child, and the other parent, threatening occasional detention, but caving under the howling cries of the "infant terrible".

Israel has not lived up to the precepts that are the basis of American Exceptionalism.   Instead they have drawn America down, and away from its principled stand, insisting on "friendship" over all, no matter how badly Israel behaves.

Many good Israelis and Jews abhor the actions of the Right-wing in their body politic. Likud instead of working in good faith towards a two-state solution has gone from the universally accepted "occupied territories", and has acted in bad faith coining the illegal term "disputed territories.   These honest and honorable Jews understand that the Israeli Government is acting the teachings of their own Torah (the Universality of the Golden Rule):

Judaism "What is hateful to you, do not do to your neighbor."(Talmud, Shabbat 31a; Tobit 4:15)   "...thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself." (Leviticus 19:18)
