There's also a panel on Sunday with Joshua Grannell (Peaches Christ) and New Yorker TV critic Inkoo Kang discussing Meryl Streep's icon status in Hollywood and in the queer community. The panel also includes Micheal Foulk (Queer Theory 101 at the Alamo Drafthouse) and comedian Dylan McKeever - and it is moderated by Sanjay Hukku, former CMO of SFIFF.
I'm gonna be at the theater early on Friday to draw a "Chalk of Fame" on the sidewalk, so attendees can pose with their favorite Meryl character name!
I'm also creating a "Traveling Meryl Museum" that pretends to display items from the set of her famous films - I have Violet's pill bottle from August: Osage County, a piece of linguini from that famous scene in Defending your Life, and the poisoned whiskey 'breakfast' that Bruce Willis drinks towards the end of Death Becomes Her. These are deep cuts for the true Meryl fan. I'm just having fun coming up with absurd ideas to create a niche experience.
MAB: Wow, I just love all the creativity--you are doing an amazing job with this!
ER: Thanks! Lastly, I've been posting on Instagram at Merylthon - everything will end up there or on the website.
MAB: Well, that was fun! Thanks again for visiting with OpEdNews, Evan--it sure sounds like this Merylthon is going to be a blast!
ER: Thank you, Meryl! It was such a pleasure.
