He flapped his wings rapidly, lifted
off and without saying good-bye flew back to his brood, where, it seemed to me,
the noise level quickly magnified. I
stood up and went inside the house, feeling depressed by our talk and
overwhelmed by the encounter itself.
Then I realized, with a sudden start, that
there was little or nothing I myself could do.
If only I could get him to speak openly in public, on facebook, a
tweet"...but as I rushed out the door, half deafened by the chatter of the multitude of identical
insects, I knew immediately there was no way to ever find him again.
