Fourthly, our Constitution is a holy document, a revolutionary document, the first in modern history to give sovereignty to We the People. It is flawed in many ways, but as we have watched it being shredded by the Bush/Cheney hoodlums, we have come to appreciate it. We appreciate its safeguards of our liberty, its careful construction so as to prevent tyranny, its diffusion of power among the various levels of government- federal, state, local. Every officeholder, including Bush and Cheney and all members of Congress, have sworn to uphold and defend the Constitution from all enemies, foreign and domestic.
They have failed. Instead, they are stealing our precious sovereignty, our right to rule ourselves. Every member of Congress, except the 20 who have signed on to H. Res 333 to impeach Cheney, is an oath-breaker and a traitor. They are selling us, We the People, who elected them and paid for their campaigns and pay their salaries, they are selling us down the river. This is evil, this is not godly.
God is on OUR side, the side of We the People.
Fifthly, we are in a battle for the future of life on the planet. Bush/Cheney are trying to lead us to nuclear war and extinction of higher life forms. They are taking us on a suicidal, biocidal, ecocidal path.
The theology of the Bush/Cheney gang, cynically preached by false prophets like Pat Robertson, is the rapture cult, a heresy based on a mistranslation of the Bible by Scofield, Darby and others. The rapture cult has been widely popularized by Hal Lindsey, author of "The Late Great Planet Earth" and Tim LeHaye, author of the "Left Behind" series. Both LeHaye and Lindsey are part of the Bush/Cheney inner circle. The rapture cult beckons nuclear war, telling true believers that Jesus will beam them up to heaven on a mushroom cloud, leaving us naughty skeptics to perish on a radioactive planet. It allows true believers to deal with the anxiety about nuclear war that we all feel, in a comfortable, simplistic, selfish manner.
The God of the Bible, and of the Qu'ran, the Gitas, reggae songs,- the Creator- is clearly a God of life, not death. We are creatures of Creator, our breath is our spirit, and it comes from Creator. Our life force, our energy for sustaining and furthering life, our spirits, are buoyed up by understanding that we are working in harmony with the Giver of life. The Bible tells us to choose life:
Deut. 30:19 This day I call heaven and earth as witnesses against you that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life, so that you and your children may live.
God is on the side of life, on the side of We the People and our children.
