Bush's "God-instructed" attack on Iraq is diabolical, killing hundreds of thousands of innocents, destroying the infrastructure. The purpose: to steal Iraq's oil. Would Jesus approve?
Jesus said to judge a tree (or Bush) by the fruits. The fruit of this Bush is a bankrupt economy, a shredded Constitution, a degeneration of public trust and decency, the loss of our country's good name, the degradation of our environment, a lowering of our standard of living- the list goes on and on .
Jesus' favorite epithet, when confronting the Pharisees, was "HYPOCRITES!" The hypocrisy of our Pharisees today is glaring- look at the spate of sex crimes among right wing Republicans who pander to the "moral majority". Look at the disregard for the lives of our soldiers and of the Iraqi people among those so concerned about prolonging the life of a brain-dead woman. Look at the widespread use of depleted uranium, which dramatically increases the rate of spontaneous abortions and malformed babies. What hypocrisy!
Bush/Cheney have borne rotten fruit. God is on OUR side.
Thirdly, We the People yearn for peace. War only benefits war profiteers. We the People, and our brothers and sisters around the world, suffer from war. We activists are peacemakers, we have built an international peace movement that turned out 20 million strong in January 2003, in an effort to prevent the invasion of Iraq. Bush/Cheney are warmongers, revelers in war, profiteers from war, instigators of war.
Peacemakers receive a special blessing in Matthew 5: 9 Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called children of God.
The prophets gave us visions of peace. Across from the UN, the Isaiah wall reads "They shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruning hooks. Nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more." (Isaiah 2:3) When Jesus was born, the angels announced, "Peace on earth, good will toward men." One of the names of Jesus is Prince of Peace. Our Constitution is partially based on the Great Law of Peace, given to the Iroquois tribes by The Peacemaker, Degandawidah, who was an incarnation of the Jesus spirit.
God is on the side of peace, on the side of We the People.
