*Preserve our system of democracy and government of the people; restore the rights and freedoms of the American people by eliminating those provisions of the Patriot Act, the FISA laws, the NDAA (National Defense Authorization Act) and other legislation that have put severe restrictions on the American people. Stop these and other governmental violations of the U.S. Constitution.
*End the destruction of this nation's manufacturing sector, once the engine that fueled our economy, together with the continued dissemination of its workforce. We can't have corporate profits and CEO's incomes skyrocketing while millions of workers compete for minimum wage jobs and the crumbs that fall from the corporate tables. Corporations must be penalized for continuing to outsource jobs and rewarded generously for recreating jobs in America.
There is nothing that indicates that this nation's downward spiral will undergo a miraculous reversal. It's not just the economy; it's far more than that. And, if we continue to refuse to forcefully confront our monumental problems and let them fester and worsen, then we will manage to even accelerate the process. We have to look forward, toward the future; we have to advance as a society, not allow ourselves to continue regressing.
This government has been given every opportunity to address these many problems that have been ripping apart the foundations of this nation, destroying its democracy, turning its political system into a national disgrace, and dividing this society as never before. So many chances to solve our problems, so many times it has failed to positively address them, and so few leaders who possess the courage and conviction to put this nation above personal gain. America's former "can do" philosophy seems to have evolved into "why even try."
What this country needs is a crash program to prevent an approaching crash. We need an immediate massive government/business/people consortium to find the ways to put the brakes on this downward slide. That's what should and must happen but it will not in the America of today that is so reactive that it doesn't know what the word proactive means. The power of positive, constructive thinking is all but gone.
The die has been cast, the course has been set. When America's many critical, unaddressed and unresolved problems come to a head and collide then this nation will take a massive fall and hit bottom. What happens then is anyone's guess; will it experience a societal eruption or will there be a people's revolution? And when the damage is cleared away, will America then be able to resurrect itself?
