All evolution is a means of survival. The human race is confronted with the real possibility of hell on earth in which people will beg for extinction and yet it sits on its bog-fouled ass while its head hides in psycho political melodrama. The primary human feature of evolution is consciousness. The culturally unexplained mystery of consciousness is as much a part of the evolving universe as is any star or planet or monkey or molecule. It is at the center of what we call the noosphere. One does not have to adhere exactly to the ideas of T. de Chardin or Vernadsky to work with this idea of a sphere of earth-reality that involves consciousness and is a primary part of evolution.
The point is that consciousness is part of the picture. This means that evolution does not have to be 'blind' or unconscious. I am not talking about genetic manipulation, which would be meaningless and even catastrophic without the appropriate growth in consciousness. I am talking about humans becoming more than what they currently are through the conscious refusal to remain in the bog of certain doom. This is the primary evolutionary act. The conscious will to be more than what we are. This is not a game. This demands total devotion and self-sacrifice for the sake of a deeper human reality. This is a very deep subject on which I have given public talks lasting hours, so I can hardly do it justice here. I am here only pointing in a certain direction. But I can say here that I have been personally involved in the authentic healing of both physical disease and psychological illness through consciousness development. This is a reality and is vitally important in human evolution at this time.
Reality
Reality is that which cannot be escaped and cannot be completely defined. It is endlessly old and endlessly new. The fire of reality is the sometimes terrifying and agonizing, but finally harmless friend of those who trust it and it is hell to those who defy it. We, as consciousness, are called to bravely enter and embrace this kaleidoscopic fire on our way to realization. We are not good children. We like to play deadly games when we should be working. But we will learn that the meaning and joy of work is infinitely greater than that of any game. Revolution is not about politics which is a game. Revolution is about removing the obstacles to human growth through the conscious decision to refuse to cooperate with deadly games and being prepared to live or die for this end. Reality is the friend of revolution. It is hell to those who stand in the way of revolution: The real revolution which will not be defeated by any oligarch, politician, or average 'normal' person.
