All suffering is the result of consciousness arising in oppositive existence that is non-conscious. For everything that consciousness might desire and cling to there is an immediate opposite of that in reality which is equally strong. Non-conscious Nature and Spirit (the two elements that constitute our root source reality) do not 'know' that we suffer because of this. The suffering is not intentional and it is not a dead-end reality. Suffering is the sign of emerging consciousness. Suffering can lead to fear and this fear leads to consciousness trying to undo itself by moving 'backward' toward non-consciousness. But this is futile precisely because the living activity of non-conscious Nature and Spirit has the exact goal of generating consciousness. It literally cannot absorb frightened consciousness back into itself. Consciousness cannot finally escape its destiny. It can only create an enveloping hallucinatory illusion of escape, which takes the form of being an imagined finished and 'normal' entity of the type that characterizes current civilization. It is precisely this entity that is on its way to hell because it is a stagnant self-contradiction. The only escape from this hell lies in realizing that you are Nature and Spirit becoming consciousness and you can only move on into deeper consciousness. There is no place else to go that isn't just hallucinatory hell rooted in the fear of reality. And it is, more than anything else, this pervasive fear that made it possible for the oligarchs to acquire the power they have. Eliminate this fear and you will eliminate the power of the oligarchs because they will not have the cooperation they need to create and sustain this power. The root of the power of the oligarchs is the prevalent fear of reality in humanity. There is no political situation or circumstance that does not have this reality underlying it. And no political system or activity can itself change this underlying reality. It can only be changed in and by consciousness itself.
I want to make it clear that when I refer to Nature, I am referring not only to living material biological reality, but also to non-biological material reality in its boundless reaches. And when I refer to Spirit I am referring to non-material/psychic reality which is also living but non-conscious in its boundless reaches. When consciousness begins to emerge this is the result of the opposites of Nature and Spirit fusing into a new reality that is different from Nature or Spirit, but cannot exist without those two fused. This fusion cannot be undone. Consciousness cannot be destroyed. It cannot disintegrate back into its roots. Consciousness is Nature and Spirit in indestructible fusion. But when consciousness emerges, most of the reality immediately surrounding it remains non-conscious and made of opposites and this oppositive non-conscious reality can induce fear in consciousness because it seems to be both the friend and the enemy of consciousness at the same time. For everything desirable to consciousness in this non-conscious aspect of reality there is an opposite that is undesirable and threatening: life is given and taken back simultaneously. The only life is life in death and this can be profoundly frightening. Consciousness begins trying to separate life from death; to preserve the former and destroy the latter. But it cannot do it because these opposites called life and death exist only in relation to each other and consciousness does not see that its destiny is to go beyond these opposites into a deeper reality. Consciousness does not see that it is itself already beyond these opposites by virtue of being these opposites fused into a new reality. In fear consciousness clings to life and shuns death and in the process creates a false unreal identity for itself that it sees and clings to as finished and normal. It is this false identity that resists reality and creates its own hell. This is what makes the power of the oligarchs possible. The root of the power of the oligarchs is the prevalent fear of reality in humanity. The oligarchs' power is entirely dependent on a significant number of people cooperating with them because of intimidation. Without this the oligarch simply cannot build the hierarchical pyramid of power. The key to oligarchic power is fear-driven consciousness that wants to be free from choice and responsibility and from the mystery of evolutionary reality.
Before moving closer to the essence of this concluding part of this article series, I want to use a relevant concrete example of the fear of reality observable within the political arena. In looking at this example I want to explain why I am not and never was an admirer (or supporter) of Bernie Sanders. But I am not attempting to make a political statement here that I seek support for. I am only using this to articulate my position in the larger context of my subject.
There is a large number of supporters and former supporters of Bernie Sanders expressing deep disappointment and alienation in what is usually described as Sanders contradicting himself (and betraying his supporters) in his support of Clinton as party nominee. Sanders did say from the beginning that he would support the Democratic nominee whoever it was. His alienated supporters respond when this fact is brought up by saying that the implication in his statement was that it would be the legitimate nominee that he would be supporting and that Clinton does not meet the criteria and therefore he is not ethically obliged by his original statement to support her. In my view all of this is just evasive sound and fury signifying nothing except the avoidance of reality. I am not defending Sanders here. I am saying that he was a self-contradiction from the beginning and that the only reason this was not clear to his supporters was their refusal to acknowledge the reality of Sanders' overall position.
In a nation such as ours which is a capitalist oligarchic imperialist nation the domestic policy of the real power holders will always be controlled and dictated by the foreign policy of these oligarchs. The domestic policy and the foreign policy are one thing with two aspects and the foreign policy is always the leading aspect because the foreign policy represents the Empire in its real feeding ground. The foreign policy will always be determined by what is happening at the frontiers of the ever-expanding Empire and this means that the domestic policy will be determined there as well.
Bernie Sanders presented a domestic policy that was a flat contradiction not only of the foreign policy of the oligarchs, but of his own foreign policy as well. But Sanders tried to hide this fact by presenting his own foreign policy (on those extremely rare occasions when he even acknowledged its existence) as a sort of clean imperialism as opposed to the dirty imperialism of the oligarchs. But beyond this remains the fact that Sanders's overall position was incoherent from the beginning because of the contradiction between his domestic and foreign policy. Even if Bernie Sanders became President Sanders he would have to either radically change his own foreign policy and stand against the oligarchic imperialism as the only way to make possible the domestic promises he made; or he would keep his foreign policy and basically abandon his domestic promises even if he pretended to stand by them. This dilemma was in Sanders' candidacy from the beginning and he succeeded in totally evading it with the complicity of the vast majority of his supporters.
There are still people who say that Sanders is a 'good' or 'decent' man and that this is shown by his past political record of support for 'working' people. But the contradiction in Sanders that I am referring to has always been there. It just wasn't plainly revealed until he stepped into the larger spotlight of a presidential run. Sanders' decency held up as long as it wasn't confronted with too wide-reaching a reality. At this point I don't care what is motivating Sanders to support Clinton. I don't care if it's because he has been threatened or if it's because he has more in common with Clinton than his supporters want to believe. What I am saying is that any discerning and open person had the evidence of Sanders' consistent foreign-policy position from the beginning to see that he would not prove himself to be a person capable of offering what the critical situation really demanded. The larger reality demands more than what Sanders has to give. And most of his supporters refused to see this precisely because of their own fear of the larger reality. These are the leftist incrementalists who tell themselves that we have forever to politically diddle our way into where we should be. But the overflow of corruption and the demands of evolutionary material reality (the Goddess) will roll over them and crush them into dust. She will crush them into hell-reality if nothing else can wake them up. These people are simply running from a more and more threatening reality. But where did that more and more threatening reality even come from? Most 'progressive' people would answer this question in terms of innocent people being victimized by evil people who are now on their way to bringing about the destruction of humanity. But is reality so shallow and unmeaning that it allows evil to victimize innocence with the possibility of no way out? The true underlying question here is: What is actually happening in reality? And it is with this question that I return to the essence of this concluding part of the series.
My position is that the vast oligarchic power we are now confronted with is the result of a steady accumulation of incremental acquisitions of power over a period of time and all of these acquisitions are the result of the exploiting of the prevalent human fear of reality, which translates into a willingness to be controlled. People in the grip of this fear consistently unconsciously position themselves to be exploited by the oligarchs. We can expect some significant degree of corruption in the world in exact proportion as humanity fearfully resists consciousness growth and this corruption has already reached the point of overflow.
The essence of consciousness growth is the assuming of responsibility as reality unrolls itself because it is the reality of you that is unrolling. This reality is not something happening to humanity. This is humanity happening. This is humanity becoming. The essence of maturity and responsibility is not just accepting this, but embracing it with passion and love. Everything that happens in the human world is humanity itself happening. And there is always a way out of any situation that threatens growth because reality itself is moving in the direction of growth. But the way out may well be something that humans refuse to acknowledge until their suffering from ignoring it exceeds their numb comfort in ignoring it. Resistance to growth is resistance to reality, which is a fear-rooted and futile road to hallucinatory hell. Nothing can happen in the world that will remove or alter the movement of reality. Therefore nothing can happen in the world that can take away your freedom to move on. This door is open and nothing can close it because this open door is reality. This open door is you. If you want to envelop yourself in the hallucination of closing the door of yourself then you are free to do so and it is guaranteed that it will make you suffer for as long as you do it. You are the door out of your suffering. Humanity is the door out of humanity's suffering. Reality is the door out of humanity's suffering. I said before that all suffering is the result of consciousness arising in oppositive existence that is non-conscious. Let's start there in the attempt get to the core of this.
