America deserves far, far better; we deserve to have a president who will put America and its people first, but that is not happening. He will not fight to restore and stabilize America. He has taken the easy route and sided with the powers that are in control of Washington. Why fight them when you can just join them? There are fighters and then there are the Obama types who don't have it in them to answer the bell.
He will do anything to get reelected in 2012. He doesn't care about the intense hatred from the Republicans, nor the increasingly veiled threats and the loss of support coming from the liberal left and the progressives. He is planning to use corporate power, corporate money and a massive campaign on the internet and the national media to flood the nation with the same old promises and platitudes. With the power and the money of Corporate America behind him, he thinks he can, once again, fool the American public.
If we reelect Mr. Obama we can look forward to more of the same subservience to the military and the corporations, and America will continue on a rapid downward decline. If we elect a Republican, then America will undergo an even more rapid and dangerous decline. So, under these conditions, we had better find some alternative candidates or we will be in big time trouble.
America 's crises are ever deepening; unemployment runs rampant, our manufacturing base is gone, our financial foundation is hemorrhaging, our infrastructure and our education systems are eroding, wars are draining the remaining wealth of our nation, states are nearing bankruptcy, foreclosures are increasing, and the American dream is becoming a nightmare. And, in this time of turmoil, we look for strong leadership and it is not to be found.
In closing, a message for liberal Democrats, progressives and independents: we need to think deeply and wrack our brains to find some way to come up with one or more presidential candidates that will put America and its people first above all else; candidates that cannot and will not be subservient and compromised by the military and Corporate America. Where are the activists and organizers with the talent to do this?
What a sorry nation and society we will have become if we cannot find even one or two candidates for the highest office in our land that have higher levels of competence, leadership, vision and moral principles than that of the current occupant of the White House and the assortment of deranged Republican clowns sitting on the Right.
