Angry Over Rising Gas Prices? It's Just The Tip Of The Iceberg

Know what America's energy policy is; have you ever read it? Of course not, because there isn't one, it's totally non-existent. I tried to find it on the internet and could only find this on Wikipedia: "Several mandates have been proposed over the years, such as gasoline will never exceed $1.00/gallon (Nixon) and the United States will never again   import as much oil as it did in 1977 (Carter);   but no comprehensive long-term energy policy has been proposed."

As we read those statements today they are absolutely laughable. Talk about laughable; here's a recent statement made by House Speaker John Boehner as he called on policy makers to address the lack of a comprehensive federal energy plan: he said, "It's just about damn time that we have a national energy policy " enough of this." Thank you Mr. Boehner and please let us know exactly when you and the rest of your obstructionist colleagues and protectors of the oil industry are going to get it done.

How will this approaching crisis unfold? Most likely gas prices, over the next decade or so, will continue to rise and fall based on the world supply situation and the actions of speculators but there will be a distinct upward trend that will intensify and become irreversible. At $5.00 gallon it will cost many Americans $80.00 $100.00 to fill their tanks. The probability that the price will reach $10.00 within ten years is very high. How enraged will Americans become when a fill up costs $150.00 to $200.00? Think that can't happen? Think that this government will prevent it from happening?

So where do we as a nation go from here? Are we ever going to wake up to the imminent dangers that lie ahead? Are we going to continue to do nothing? There is an energy tsunami that is heading directly for our shores. When it suddenly arrives with its full fury we won't even know what hit us. Have we no vision, can't we see this coming?
