Additional Drinking Water Hazards
In the words of an Aiken Cryptosporidiosis victim,
'The city can't handle the truth!!''They are playing Russian roulette with folks lives!!!'. 1/12/2026
In fact, the water main repair that affected my home was to be followed by boil water notices when repairs were complete. Residents are informed of boil water notices after repairs are complete, even though potential health hazards are present when the main is first broken, which potentially endangers public health. I received no such notice after the black water at my home that followed a break.
The Fight Goes On
I lost the fight against Aiken, but my research and writing go forward to fight for safer drinking water. Lead poisoning, E. Coli, Legionella, Listeria, Cryptosporidiosis, and an estimated $60 billion per year in broken U.S. water mains are too important to stop this fight.
