Driving While Eating
Driving While Eating (DWE) while safer than Driving While Drinking (or even Driving While on the Cell Phone) is a growing vice. Peak in the windows of parked cars and you'll see mounds of food containers on unused and unusable passenger seats. Some say DWE is the real reason Americans won't take public transportation or carpool; people don't want to give up their mobile dining rooms.
Fast Food
Fast food makes us fat because it confounds our biology. Mankind is wired to be obsessed with food. Until a hundred years ago, we spent most of our time growing or locating it, processing it and storing, preparing it, cleaning up after serving it and worrying about it. Take away all the food associated behaviors except eating and what do you get? People lined up at the vending machine blaming their weight on air conditioning.
