Private investors are seeing the inherent and potential benefits of high-speed transportation networks, and have already pumped $75 million into a line that would link Dallas to Houston as early as 2021. With the target met for first round of funding the project is finally able to move on from feasibility studies and into development planning.
Prospective projects like this are benefiting numerous states across the country and allow people to pursue a greater number of recreational activities as well. Many more families are opting to embark on transcontinental-style vacations and are looking into the newly-created tourist destinations.
One state that seems to be at the forefront of HSR? Florida. The Sunshine State has played host to more than 100 million visitors so far in 2015 and will be rolling out All Aboard Florida, a train service designed to encourage and promote tourism from Orlando to Miami.
And while it's still too early to say how long it will be before HSR connects the majority of major American cities, what is clear is that it's only a matter of time.
