This article is the first in a planned series where we will go deep into some alternatives. But before you read my analysis and opinion, I invite you to test drive the different voting systems yourselves.
To this end, I have created a poll for the 2020 Presidential primaries using several voting systems in tandem: Plurality, Approval, Range, Ranked Choice, and Range with Runoff. I invite everyone to give it a try. See how it feels to vote using the respective systems. Analyze the results.
This should be a particularly interesting experiment for Democrats, as the field is large and interesting. (For Republicans I threw in candidates from 2016 to attempt to make it interesting. Not sure if this will work.) If I get enough participation, I'll break down the results by state and do delegate counts and whatnot. For now the results are all bundled together, but I am just beginning to promote the poll. Please help!
Vote in the poll. Tell your friends. Then come back here in the future for some deeper analysis and discussion of strategy.
