Meryl Ann Butler: Thanks for visiting with us, Nate! I've watched several of your video clips, and they are fabulous! What exactly is SeePolitical? And can you tell us what inspired this endeavor?
Nate Kaplan: SeePolitical is the new generation of voter education tools that we hope ultimately revolutionizes the way people vote and obtain information about upcoming ballot propositions.
We've developed a novel method to address a major problem in our society -- voter confusion and voter apathy. We started testing the concept 2012, and had our real soft launch during the June 2014 primary election when we produced videos explaining Props 41& 42. We're wrapping up production for our videos explaining this November's ballot props in English and Spanish.
For the past 13 years I've been working in state and local government and politics and noticed most legislators couldn't even understand the complex language for ballot propositions we're all expected to vote on.
In 2008, I was a communications and legislative director for Los Angeles City Councilmember Bill Rosendahl. Coming from Massachusetts, I still wasn't used to the ballot proposition cottage industry as it exists in the Golden State.
