In the future, Israel may find that it can no longer remain isolated from the community of world nations. The U.S., its great benefactor, is in the midst of a massive economic crisis, it is stretched to the limit because of its involvement in Iraq, Afghanistan and now even Pakistan. If massive economic problems continue to plague America, Israel might not continue receiving billions in aid and have to fend for itself.
While the charges of human rights violations in the Goldstone Report are very damning, they are nothing compared to what would occur when and if Israel makes good on its ever continuing threats to wipe out Iran's nuclear facilities. If Israel is so terribly reckless to initiate such an ill-fated military action, then all hell will break loose in the Middle East, possibly igniting World War III. That cannot be allowed to happen.
Israel seems to be wearing out its welcome in the world and there is more and more speculation that the world nations are not going to continue to tolerate its aggressive behavior and its utter disregard for international laws. Don't expect to see any coalition of nations threatening military actions against Israel, that won't happen. But what may transpire is that the ??weapon ? used against Israel will be a coordinated boycott by nations who decide that this situation has gone too far and must be remedied. If huge restrictions on exports of needed raw materials and products to Israel are coupled with restrictions on imports from Israel, then that nation will be almost completely isolated.
Israel has, since becoming a sovereign state in 1948, taken a position that those who criticize or oppose its aggressive military actions are anti-semitic. That may be true in some cases. But Israel should understand that most of the nations of the world are not anti-semitic but, rather, anti-belligerent.
