The United States is at the bottom of the list when it comes to science worldwide, so let us, as a nation, not keep going in that direction. The fundamentalists got what they deserved in this election, which was an approbation that their belief system is faulty and needs adjustment. An adjustment that is approximate to everyday reality, and the modern scientific method of thought. It is now ok to watch the History Chanel, or read a Harry Potter book, or take your kids to a museum and look at dinosaurs. Joseph Campbell, the great American mythology professor once remarked that humans must reprogram their religions. The status quo that exists in the world today differentiates one religion from another. Therefore, with separate dogmas and doctrine, one can say you are different from me, based on one’s religious beliefs, and therefore we can now find a basis for religious discrimination, and ultimately warfare, simply because they are different from us. The crusades are a perfect example of the religious dilemma that exists in the world, whether it occurs in the Middle Ages, or George W. Bush’s modern crusade against oil-rich Muslim nations.
