Founded by Scott Lively (author of the debunked "The Pink Swastika"), the coalition includes Bryan Fischer, Matt Barber, Peter La Barbera, Tim Wildmon, Gordon Klingenschmidt, Sally Kern, Janet Porter and just about every other Christian Right leader worth their salt in the culture wars.
The Coalition says it is "not a hate group," nor is it even "anti-gay."
While the anti-gay laws of the African nations has taken on a tone of defiance against the United Nations (Lively's "Elites of the Western Powers"), they have displayed an open hostility to all things American. Secretary of State John Kerry's warnings have been openly rebuffed and the recent spate of laws concerning morality in Uganda show a disdain for a culture it previously strove to embrace.*
In "exporting hate", the Christian Right has resorted to making nations hate America's "liberal", "sinful", even "Anti-Christ" government.
Talking against the United States, especially against the government, and
portraying it as an evil entity in some circles has been considered by some
people to be a seditious act. So are Lively and his group really traitors?
America has always been a free nation of progress (or so it seems to many), and turning other nations away from those American ideals, in fact, making other nations despise us for them is probably the most un-American act of this century.
How ironic that the "patriots" at home may be "traitors" abroad.
