Alice shook her head. "Hell if I know. Clearly voting didn't work. Protests to replace one warmonger with another will keep us distracted so that the looting and pillaging for the Empire can continue unabated. But it ain't us Romans they are fighting for any more. How long will it be before we all slide into the mud, even here in Rome?"

The Rabbit sighed. "That's for sure. TARP, Social Security, pensions, the national debt. Everything we've worked for, grabbed and gone. Only the .001% are thriving; and only their courtesans and the barnacled professional class are treading water."

"Feudalism is bad enough, but the kings and queens of the past could only "off with his head" a few thousand people. Today, we can behead millions with one missile. We can't afford to let ourselves be led--or looted--by agents who make money off of murder," said Alice.

"Strong words, my dear, strong words." The Hatter lifted a scraggly finger. "Were I you," he paused, smiled, then continued, "I should give up any hope of hope and follow Rabbit's example. Go down a rabbit hole and create your own 'deep state', because you'll never un-entrench this one. They won--and we all lose."
