Because daughter Sasha still has three years of high school left, the Obama's have rented a home in an upscale neighborhood of D.C., and will live there until she too graduates from the Sidwell School. So wherever Malia may go during her gap year, and during her first two years at Harvard, home will still be in the D.C. area. Where the Obama's will go after that is not known. They still own their home on the Southside of Chicago, but no one is speculating whether they will return to their hometown.
No Fanfare
The graduation was typical of all other like events at Sidwell. And, except for additional Secret Service presence, there was no special recognition by the school of its special graduate or her parents. In fact, Sidwell has educated children of other Presidents and dignitaries before. Bill Clinton, Richard Nixon, Herbert hoover and Teddy Roosevelt all sent their kids to Sidwell and two of Joe Biden's grandkids also attend the school.
The only restriction when Presidents' children graduate is that the ceremony is not open to the public. Tickets are provided to families and extended families, in order to keep better security in place.
