and my 9/15 article:
Star Power vs. Editorial Page Power vs. Trump's Stadium ~ Willie Nelson Rally for Beto O'Rourke>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
(I realize that Quinnipiac University's Poll is one of the most respected and most often accurate polls in the USA, and that these results are being "Trumpeted" widely all over Texas, just the bare bones headlining results, but if you go a little deeper into the poll and actually read the wider panorama of its results, the statistics are not so alarming, if you are a Beto supporter.
In any case, this poll will absolutely serve to galvanize and fire up the effort to get people registered, and the to get out the vote, especially among unregistered fence-sitters, Hispanic, and African American voters.
Beto has never relied on nor consulted pollsters. He has repeatedly said, and I am paraphrasing: "Why should I? I am talking directly with hundreds of thousands of Texans all over Texas, and I don't need anyone to interpret what they are saying and what they want."
It is clear that all along Beto was going to do it his way, a sincere, tireless, populist push that just might still be able to pull it off.... watch the debates between Cruz and Beto ~ the first is this coming Friday, and there are several more. I also think Willie Nelson's Beto rally in Austin September 29 is going to fire up a section of the electorate that are usually fence sitters, and just a few days before the deadline to register)
Here is the poll from Quinnipiac, their entire press release verbatim, so please draw your own conclusion, take your own action, don't abandon contributing to and talking about this fine Democrat candidate just because of one poll, but do realize how much really is at stake in Texas and in the Nation.
And who is Quinnipiac?
The poll has been cited by major news outlets throughout North America and Europe, including The Washington Post, Fox News, USA Today, The New York Times, CNN, and Reuters.
Quinnipiac University Poll receives national recognition for its independent surveys of residents throughout the United States. It conducts public opinion polls on politics and public policy as a public service as well as for academic research
In his most recent article on polling and polling institutes, well known American statistician and writer/editor-in-chief of FiveThirtyEight, Nate Silver, referred to the Quinnipiac University Polling Institute. In his article, "The State of the Polls 2016", Silver stated, "The best-performing polls recently have been those from Monmouth University and those from Marist College. Both apply "gold standard" methodologies, using live telephone interviews and placing calls to cellphones as well as landlines, and both participate in the AAPOR Transparency Initiative. Quinnipiac University, another "gold standard" pollster, has also performed fairly well of late."
Republican incumbent Sen. Ted Cruz has a 54 - 45 percent likely voter lead over U.S. Rep. Beto O'Rourke, his Democratic challenger, in the Texas Senate race, according to a Quinnipiac University Poll released September 18.This is the first survey of likely voters in this race by the independent Quinnipiac University Poll, and can not be compared to earlier surveys of registered voters. Among Texas likely voters who choose a candidate, 93 percent say their mind is made up. That includes 94 percent of Cruz backers and 92 percent of O'Rourke backers.
Women are divided as 50 percent back Cruz and 48 percent back O'Rourke. Men back Cruz 57 - 42 percent. White voters back Cruz 66 - 32 percent. O'Rourke leads 97 - 3 percent among black voters and 54 - 45 percent among Hispanic voters.
Republicans back Cruz 94 - 6 percent, as Democrats go to O'Rourke 94 - 4 percent. Independent voters are divided with 51 percent for O'Rourke and 47 percent for Cruz.
Texas likely voters approve 53 - 44 percent of the job Cruz is doing and give him a 52 - 43 percent favorability rating.
