Founder Bill Gothard's (IBLP) method of authoritarianism and questionable Biblical standards certainly helped cause Josh Duggar's problems, highlighting complete control over every aspect of a child's life, continuing into adulthood. Such control can lead to a reactionary (rebellious) psychosis.

Yes, it exists, and relates some pretty horrific stories, e.g.:

first five years, I knew what the real world was like.
Blame Canada
The Duggars and their homeschooling methods also took a hit from none other than Canada.
It's flip-flop time:
Paul van der Bosch of the Alberta Home Education Association:
"We were getting many more positive emails and calls from our members who still wanted to hear the Duggars," van den Bosch explained. "[They] basically said, you know, this did happen 10 years ago and it was the son, not the parents, so please don't punish the parents for the sin of the son."
That was on Oct. 30. Then two days later:
The scandal-clad Duggar family's keynote speech at the Alberta Home Education Association conference in Red Deer, Alta., has been cancelled.
